Its problems have been receiving great concerns since long time ago. But family educations problem wasnt used as a conducted research subject in our country until the past few years. This is actually determined by the development of the time and by the demand of the talents. Besides, it is also a demand that should be solved under the increasing of Chinese nations overall equality. Western family education patterns have been receiving highly praise since ancient time. However, when it comes to Chinese Family Education, there will always get various criticizes. Under the increasingly growth of the social competition, nowadays, all of Chinese parents expect their son to grow as a dragon, or expect the daughter to grow as a phoenix (In Chinese traditional culture, dragon is stand peace and powerful, also the dragon is super king of all animals; Phoenix is stand for beauty and sacred, also is the Queen of all kinds of birds.) Look upon the two means of education in rational and correct way, it is of great importance when it comes to long-term development of the whole nation. In order to know the differences of the western family education and the eastern family education, here I write this thesis. It mainly explores the difference from several cultural aspects. Whats more, here I also put forward some inspiring suggestions for the development of Chinese family education accordingly. 1.2 Research Significance It is the way of family education that has received widespread concerns from the parents. Family education is also a social problem. Family Education is of vital importance in talent training projects for it is one of the basic parts in the whole education system. There are two different kinds of education view between Chinese family education and American family education. They are formed separately in the Chinese cultural environment and the American cultural environment according to the different traditional culture, different lifestyle, different social custom, different concepts and different inside information. At the same time, it is the two kinds of cultural education concepts that lead to the big difference in the ways of education. This thesis is based on the background information of the Joy Luck Club, that is mainly about the first female immigrant generation - a story that is happened among four pairs of mothers and daughters, by contrasting both of them present us a comparative analysis of the two countries way of education; via correct understanding to know the differences and the reasons reflected in the two countries way of education. Besides, this thesis chief aim is at looking for a more reasonable and more perfect way for family education, “Take the essence and discard the dregs”, put forward several ways that is suitable for Chinese family education. Further promote Chinese family educations revolution in childrens enlightenment education, in childrens healthy growth and in the improvement for the qualities of the future talents, using the revolution as a reference to further perfect the whole education system. Making sure that Chinese child can have a more reasonable family education, better learning habits and receive a good intelligence development. Thus, family education can provide the society with more excellent talents for our countries future development. 1.3 Amy Tan and the Joy Luck ClubThe Joy Luck Club, Amy Tans critically acclaimed novel was published in the year 1989, is mainly focused on the life of Chinese immigrants whom live in America with their American born daughters. After published this work, Amy Tan got great success, then had continue won the top eight “New York Time ” best - selling book, won the numerous awards and has become the best-selling book. Whats more, the novel has also made in to a movie“The Joy Luck Club was adapted into a feature film in1994, for which Amy Tan was a co-screenwriter with Ron Bass and a co-producer with Bass and Wayne Wang.”(Amy Tan) and received many praise since it is produced.“A stunning literary achievement, The Joy Luck Club explores the tender and tenacious bond between four daughters and their mothers. The daughters know one side of their mothers, but they don't know about their earlier never-spoken of lives in China. The mothers want love and obedience from their daughters, but they don't know the gifts that the daughters keep to themselves. Heartwarming and bittersweet, this is a novel for mother, daughters, and those that love them.
