I hadn t taken my eye off the ball.We hadn t taken it easy.The poem is made up of five lines. A lot of Tang poetry has been translated into English. The translations have a free form that English people like to copy. 2. Ability goals a. Enable Ss to talk about different types of poems: nursery rhymes; list poems; cinquain,; haiku; Tang poems b Understand the main theme of each poem. c. Enable Ss to writing some simple poems. 3. Learning ability Enable Ss to distinguish different types of poems and try to imitating writing simple poems 4. Emotion ability Guide Ss to have a grateful heart to their parents. friends and teachers and so on. Teaching important points 1.Talk about five main types of poems and their characteristics . 2.Distinguish and try writing the simple poems in English. T: (Many poems can be sung ) Brainstorming: Is it a song or a poem? Step 3. Warming up 1) Listen to another song (poem) “ Little star ” and find out something special at the end of the lines.(引出 押韵 rhyme 节奏 rhythm 这两个生词 ) 2) T; This is a song and also a nursery poem ,because it has strong rhymes and rhythms .It has a lot of repetition. The language is concrete and imaginative, and they delight small children . It s called nursery rhymes, which is one of simple English poems. Do you know more other simple English poems? OK, let s learn more about it. ( Get Ss to open the book Page 10, then read ) Step 4. Pre-reading T: From the title, can you guess what we will learn today ? And what style of the passage is it ? Step 5. Reading 1);Fast reading Get the Ss to read the passage quickly and accurately and meanwhile help the Ss to form a good habit of reading. Teacher gives Ss a couple of minutes to look through the whole passage. Tell them to read the text silently and then ask some questions about the text on the slide show . Teacher should encourage Ss to express their ideas. Q1. How many kinds of poems are mentioned in the passage? What are they? Q2. Whats the main idea of Para 1?Q3.Whats the main topic of the reading? Get some students to answer the three questions ,then according to the three answers above ,get Ss to summarize the style of the reading is _.
