Today there is a writing class to describe the traditional festivals. I am to analyze this lesson from five perspectives:Analysis of the teaching material, the teaching methods, the studying methods, the teaching procedures, and blackboard designing.First, let me talk about the teaching material.Part 1 The Interpretation of Teaching Material:1. Introduction of the teaching aims of this unitStudents will be able to know more about the traditional festivals and what we can do to maintain our traditional festivals.Students can think deeply about traditional festivals and describe them so as to improve their comprehensive ability of using English language.2. The status that this specific lesson plays in the unitAs we all know, writing belongs to the output during the process of the language learning. The output has a great effect on input , such as listening and reading.By learning this part, students can keep tradition festivals in mind. 3. Teaching aims:(1)Knowledge objects: A. Enable the students to know the new words and the main sentence patterns.B. Enable the students to understand the requirements of a perfect composition.(2)Ability objects:A. Improve the Ss writing abilities such as making an outline and polishing composition.B. Enable the students to express their ideas based on the understanding of the traditional festivals.(3)Affection objects:Cultivate the students compassion to others and their awareness of preserving the traditional festivals.4. Difficult points:How to ensure the students to write a complete composition in such short time and to display it.Part 2 The Interpretation of Teaching Methods:The Task-Based Language Teaching method as well as Communicative Approach is employed to fulfill the teaching aims.That is to say, Ill let the Ss to get a better understanding the traditional festivals compared to western festivals. According to the modern social communicative teaching theories, I adopt the Situational Language Teaching method、Task-Based Language Teaching method in my teaching.Part 3 The Interpretation of Studying Methods: Students of this stage are quick in thought and they are eager to show what they know.But they lack courage to express their ideas. Therefore, a teacher should encourage students to write down what they think of the traditional festivals in this lesson. I will teach my students to master the following strategy:1、 Basic learning strategy;The students can learn about the related words and phrases; 2、 Practice strategy;Practice can help the students have a better understanding of the traditional festivals;3、 Communication strategyIn a word, Ill ask students to discuss with each other about the traditional festivals and teach the students how to write a successful composition. Part 4 Teaching ProceduresAccording to the new standard curriculum, the students are the subject of learning and teachers should act as a guider, an organizer and a director in the learning process. So I design the teaching procedures like this:Step 1 leading-inI think the most useful method to lead the students to learn is interest stimulating. At the beginning, I will show the Ss some pictures to attract the students. Ss are supposed to talk about different customs about the western festivals and make the next preparation. Step 2 Pair workDescribe to each other the Spring Festival according to the provided information.For your reference:delicious food, red packet, dress up, visit friends and relatives, have fun with, watch the Spring Festival program, watch fireworks, set off the firecrackersBy describing to each other the Spring Festival according to the provided information so that Ss have a sketch about how to write a composition about the traditional festivals. Step 3 Talk about hints about how to describe a Chinese festival to others1)the origins and meaning of the festival2)when and where it is celebrated3)what happens during the festival4)costumes and foodStep 4 Use knowledge youve learnt today as well as words and expressions.This is a festival which comes in.This is a festival of , which marks the beginning of People usually dress up in special clothes.People prefer to eat at .wear special clothes eat special food give or receive gifts have a holiday from school take part in a traditional ceremonydance and listen to music enjoy yourself with friends or familyStep 5 Polish the writing and ask one students to remark on the composition. A group of 8 discuss how to write it and cooperate with each other. After finishing it,invite deskmates to revise it.Here I will give some instructions on how to ramark on the composition.Step 6 Debate Today more and more students tend to celebrate the western festivals,for example,the Christmas festival.What's your opinion towards this situation?Then teacher comes to a conclusion that traditional festivals are our treasure. As students, we should work hard to make our country stronger and be more confident in our culture.Step 7 Summary and homeworkToday we learnt some useful words and phrases and some sentence patterns which are very useful to describe the traditional festivals.
