    MTI复试常规问题(共3页).docx

精选优质文档-倾情为你奉上What do you know about MTI?MTI( MTI=Master of Translation and Interpreting)The training plan for MTI is to cultivate professional talents in translation and interpreting. MTI is a new kind of master and the training program of MTI began in 2010. The studying time is two years. What is the difference between MA(master of arts)and MTI(master of translation) ?MTI put more emphasis on practice and I want to have more opportunities to practice my interpreting and translation. And I haven't decided whether or not to pursue a doctor's degree. So, in these two years, I just want to practice more and improve my interpreting and translation.Do you have any real experiences in translation or interpreting? If so, what have you learned from them? No, I haven't been a translator intern, but I did have experiences in Commercial Advertising translation and lyric translation. From these experiences, I have learned that Translation entertains different fields. And what I need to do in the next few years is to find my own directions, be specialized in one or two fields of translation, thats the only way to stand out. Please give us a brief introduction about the translation courses in your collage, what have you learned from that?First, I have a basic understanding of translation masters, translation theories and translation strategies.Secondly, my translation teachers have recommended some classical books, such as I tried to read some translation books and learn to appreciate them.Last but not least, these translation courses have cultivated my interests towards translation. Motivated by interests, I choose to take this exam and I hope I can continue to study in this field. What do you consider translation to be, art, science or just craft? Please elaborate on your stand. As for me, translation is an art, a bilingual art. Like painting, translation enables us to reproduce the fine thought of somebody, not in colors, but in words, in words of a different language. In this occasion, when we read a translation work can bring us mental pleasure, just like looking at a wonderful artistic work. Domestication & foreignizationForeignization and Domestication are two major translation strategies in translation field. Domestication means turning the source language to the target language localization, or the reader oriented way, which can get target readers to understand the original content well. Foreignization requires the translator to adopt source languages expression, to convey the original content, thus keeping translation version exotic to the readers.Literal translation & free translation Literal translation and free translation are two basic translating skills. It cannot say literal translation or free translation, which is better. It depends on what kind of translation situations.Literal translation not only maintains the content of the original text, but also to maintain the original form of translation methods or translation of text. Free translation may be considered as a supplementary means to greatly convey the deep meaning behind the original rather than trying to imitate its sentence patterns or figures of speech. How do you view the inter-relationship among language, culture and translation? The inter-relationship among language, culture and translation is very close. Language, as a communication tool, is an important approach of culture exchange. To exchange culture successfully, translation is needed. So, translation is also a route of transmission of cultural values. The aim of a translator is to transfer one language into another through different translation skills, but remain its culture. The relationship between theory and practiceThe two cannot be separated. Theories elaborate on the differences between English and Chinese and discuss stylistic features and translation of various genres. After studies these theories, we can have a basic understanding of translation. Under the guidance of translation theories, translation practice will be more effective. And in the practice, some new ideas will occur, which can complement translation theories. If you failed this time what will you do in the near future?I am very clear that no one can always success. Life is full of challenge, and I am ready to face it. I also tell myself I shall never give up at any moment. I have tried my best. No matter what the result is. I will never give up my pursuit and my dream.Which kind of professor do you like best?I think the best professor would be someone who is both good in personality and learning and who can guide me not only in how to do research but also in how to be an excellent people. What is the best university in your opinion? I think every university has its own advantages. And the best university is the one in which students can improve themselves most and acquire a large amount of knowledge. Computer aided translationComputer assisted translation increases productivity and quality of translation at the same time. We should make use of its advantage, but we cant totally rely on it.Who is your favorite translator? Introduce his or her worksThe translator impresses me the most is Yan Fu.Evolution and Ethics天演论Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations 国富论Yan Fu was an outstanding educationist, and translator in late Qing Dynasty of China. He puts forward three basic principle of translation: faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance. This theory has occupied an important or even dominant position in China for over one hundred years. The “three-word theory” is regarded as the essence and milestone of translation researches in ancient China, and also the central point of arguments in contemporary China. In Yan Fu's translation thought, “faithfulness” which is the most fundamental, refers to the fact that a translator should express the real meanings of the original text; “expressiveness” refers to clear and smooth expressions of the target language while “elegance” means that the translated version should be of classical grace and written in classical Chinese. These three aspects are a natural unity, closely connected with each other.专心-专注-专业
