Others had cakes and candy for lunch, while we had to eat a sandwich. As you can guess, my supper was different from the other kids. But at least I was not alone in my suffering. My sister and two brothers had the same mean mother as I did.My mother insisted on knowing where we were at all times. She had to know who our friends were and what we were doing. We had to wear clean clothes every day. Other kids always wore their clothes for days. We reached the height of disgrace because she made our clothes herself, just to save money. The worst was yet to come.We had to be in bed by 9:00 each night and get up at 7:45 the next morning. So when my friends slept, my mother actually had the courage to break Child Labour Law. She made us work. I believed she lay awake all night thinking up mean things to do to us. Through the years, our friends report cards had beautiful colours on them, black for passing, red for failing. My mother, however, would merely be content with black marks. None of us was allowed the pleasure of being a dropout. She forced us to grow up into educated and honest adults. Using this as a background, Im now trying to bring up my three children. Im filled with pride when my children think I am mean because now I thank God every day for giving me the meanest mother in the world.【语篇解读】本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。 12From the passage we can learn that the writers mother was_Anot generous at allBvery strict with her childrenCvery mean with money mattersDvery cruel to her childrenB推理判断题。 13Which of the following things did the writer hate to do most?AEating differently from other kids.BWearing clean clothes made by mother.CGoing to bed early and getting up early.DLetting mother know where they were.C细节理解题。 14It can be inferred from the passage that_Athe writer worked hard and usually got good grades in studiesBmother was punished for breaking Child Labour LawCall the other kids studied better than the writerDthe writers family lived a miserable lifeA推理判断题。 “My mother, however, would merely be content with black marks.” 第三段中“.our friends report cards had beautiful colours on them, black for passing, red for failing.”及第四段中“She forced us to grow up into educated and honest adults.” 15Which of the following statements is NOT true according to the passage?AMother practised economy in running her home.BThe writer is very thankful to her mother.CThe writer is severe with her children when bringing them up.DThe writer has a deep hatred for her mother.D推理判断题。 Selfconfidence,motivation(动机),support and knowledge are the main factors determining if one succeeds or fails. Each of these factors influences our chances of success in a different way. 16 Lack of selfconfidence is probably the most dreadful enemy of success. 17 Even the most capable person is sure to fail with such an attitude. If it is your case too, improving your selfconfidence is a must.Motivation is equally as important as selfconfidence. 18 You may even not try to achieve the goal that lies before you.It is important to find out what is the best motivation for you.If you have to do something that does not motivate you, just treat yourself with a reward after you succeed.Of course, this reward should consist of something that will motivate you to pursue(追求) a success. 19 While it is not a must for succeeding in your goals,a lack of support can often lead to failure. It is also true that some people cannot succeed without a proper support from their surroundings. These people often lose their motivation or worse, their selfconfidence. If you know such a person, supporting him or her is a right thing to do.Also surround yourself with the right people. You will see the results soon.Pursuing realistic goals is also important for a success. You should always make sure that your goals are achievable. 20 Unrealistic goals usually lead to a fast failure and also make many people embarrassed.AAs we know, many people try but do not succeed.BConsider all your knowledge and skills when setting up a goal.CMotivation is something in yourself that can push you forwards.DThere are several main reasons why some people cannot succeedESupportive family and collective workplace are also very important.FWithout it,you will not push yourself towards a better performance.GThinking you are not good enough to achieve your goals is the same as deciding that you will not succeed.【语篇解读】本文是一篇议论文。 17G根据本段第一句“Lack of selfconfidence is probably the most dreadful enemy of success.” 18F根据本段第一句“Motivation is equally as important as selfconfidence.” 再结合空后的“You may even not try to achieve the goal that lies before you.” 19E根据后句中的“.a lack of support can often lead to failure.” 20B根据空前内容“Pursuing realistic goals is also important for a success. You should always make sure that your goals are achievable.” 第二部分语言运用(共两节,满分30分)第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)There are times when people are so tired that they fall asleep almost anywhere. We can see there is
