Malaysia Capital: Kuala LumpurOfficial language: Malay, English, ChineseOfficial Currency: Malaysian Ringgit National flag The 14 stripes, of equal width, represent the equal status in the federation of the 13 member states and the federal government. The 14 points of the star represent the unity between these entities. The crescent represents Islam, the countrys official religion; The blue canton symbolizes the unity of the Malaysian people. Flag of Malaysia comprises a field of 14 alternating red and white stripes and a blue canton bearing a crescent and a 14-point star.Emblem of Malaysia The yellow color of the crest, a crescent and a 14-pointed federal star, symbolizes the countrys monarchy (君主政体 ). The federal star represents the thirteen states and the Federal Territories of Malaysia (联邦直辖区). The National Emblem of Malaysia consists of a shield guarded by two supporters as rampant tigers. Geography It is the only country that occupies territory on both the mainland and insular regions of Southeast Asia. It is separated by the South China Sea into two regions, Peninsular Malaysia and Malaysian Borneo (also known as West and East Malaysia respectively).Geography Western Malaysia is on the southern tip of the Malay peninsula, and stretches from the Thai border to the island of Singapore. Eastern Malaysia includes the territories of Sabah (沙巴州)and Sarawak (沙捞越) on the north end of Borneo, separated by the country of Brunei. Climate Malaysia is hot and humid all the year round (typical tropical climate) with a temperature of 20-30, and a humidity level of 90%(humid all around the year). The rain forests and other tropical vegetation thrive in the hot and humid climate and are fed by the wet seasons. Approximately two-thirds of Malaysia is forest, with the majority of it being tropical rain forest. There are diversified vegetations and wildlife. East Malaysia is known for having one of the largest and most varied bird population in the world. Population Malaysia is a multi-racial country whose population consists of the main racial groups of Malays, Chinese and Indians, living together with a very diverse group of indigenous people. Religion The different types of religion in Malaysia reflect the variety of races living there: Islam is practiced predominantly by the Malays. Most of the Chinese believe in Buddhism and Taoism, but others are Christians. Hinduism is mostly practiced by the regions Indian population. Many indigenous people have converted to Christianity, but others still practice animism (万物有灵论万物有灵论 ). The Federation of Malaya became independent country on 31 August, 1957. On 16 September, 1963, the Federation was enlarged by the accession of the states of Singapore, Sabah (formerly British North Borneo) and Sarawak. The name “Malaysia” was adopted from that date. However, Singapore left the Federation on 9 August, 1965. Resources and economy Malaysia boasts abundant natural resources with the output and export of rubber, palm oil and pepper ranking in the forefront globally. Economy Malaysia has experienced a sustained high-speed economic development since 1987, with the annual growth rate of national economy being maintained at above 8%, successively. The electrical and electronics industry is Malaysias leading industrial sector. The service sector is also a major contributor to the growth of the Malaysian economy. Economy The Malaysian government encourages the development of domestic raw material-based processing industries, while focusing on the electronics, automobile assemblage, iron and steel, petrochemical and textile industries. Capital: Kuala Lumpur The tourism sector plays an important part in the citys economy, providing income, employment and expanding business opportunities. It has also developed into an international shopping destination Capital: Kuala Lumpur The major tourist destinations in Kuala Lumpur include the Genting Highliands, the Petronas Towers, the Kuala Lumpur Tower, the National Museum, the Menara Tower, the National Monument and mosques such as the Masjid Jamek, the Masjid Negara (National Mosque) and the Federal Territory Mosque. It is used for communication purposes and features an antenna (天线) that reaches 421 m, which currently makes it the second tallest freestanding tower in the world.Petronas Towers The Petronas Twin Towers were the tallest buildings in the world for six years, until Taipei 101 was completed in 2004. The Petronas Twin Towers still remain the tallest twin buildings in the world The towers feature a skybridge between the two towers on 41st and 42nd floors, which is the highest 2-story bridge in the world.
