It includes several characteristics in the thesis. I will talk about them on their time of each series, film, actors and actresses, connotation, culture, style, and the skill of shooting. Recently under my friends recommendation, I have watched several British series. They have imprinted in my mind. So I made a summary on the characteristics of the British series. 1.1 The Types of the British seriesThe British series can be classified into seven types, such as news, talk show, soap opera, situation comedy, mini series and reality TV. The famous British reality TVs are Im celebrity ,Get me out of here and Big brother. 1.2 The Aspects of the British seriesThe British series are always humorous, and they have more culture connotation than American series. The film in the British series is British English, so its good for our English major students. 1.3 The Influence of the British seriesThey let our foreigners know more about Britain, the connotation in the British series make us think that Britain is a cultured country, so we become more respect British. Its really a good influence. However, sometimes the actresses and actors in series are too serious which make us think that the British people are a little cold. 2. Recommendation2.1 Empty CrownStations: BBC Cast: Ben·Wishaw, Tom Hitlerston, Episodes introduction: the empty Crown was a Shakespeare historical series shooted by the United Kingdom broadcasting company (BBC), including Charles II and Henry IV. Part I of the series made a good hit once it was played on June 30 this year, at the same time, it gain good comment from the dramatic criticisms and media.2.2 HamletAuthor: United Kingdom William Shakespeare (William Shakespeare) About the work: its one of the famous tragedies, and its Shakespeare's most famous play. With the composition of Macbeth, King Lear and Othello they are Shakespeare's "four great tragedies". In Hamlet, revenge story is interwoven with a love-hate worry. At the same time, Hamlet is also the name of the hero Denmark Prince in the play.2.3 Yes, Prim MinisterIts a comedy which is humorous and satirical. Research MethodologyIn order to know the detail on the characteristics of the British series, I made a research on that. And the finding shocked me.3.1 SubjectsThe characteristics of the British series in your mind from your watching experience.3.2 The Research InstrumentsComputer, I believe for our students computer is a pretty good instrument to do a research. Because its available, convenient and easy to make.3.3 Data CollectionMost people agree that every episode is dapper and its the point that appear them. Some other people like British series not because its historic but its special cultural precipitation. Its a kind of feeling of the integration of old and new cultures. Some students watch them just for leaning British English, because the film in the British series is British English.4. ConclusionIt can be seen that about the characteristics of the British series are the following. First, they have less episodes and they are more compact. Second, the hero and heroin are more engaging. Third, they are more refined and more profound. Fourth, they are more open and ironic. At last, they are more “radical love ”and more “rotten girl”.7
