(6)Understanding Your Feelings Helps You Name And Tame (驯服) ThemWe all experience various feelings all the time. Some of them feel great, some feel unpleasant, and its helpful to be able to recognize and understand how youre feeling so you know how to deal with it._1_ They can include anger, sadness, worry, loneliness and shame, as well as surprise, happiness, courage and hope, among many others._2_ All feelings are there to be felt and some can be more uncomfortable than others. Its OK and natural to experience different emotions and that includes emotions that might not feel nice.To deal with your feelings you need to recognize what they are. _3_ Are your fists clenched (攥紧)? Does it seem like theres a knot in your stomach? Next, pay attention to what youre thinking at this time. _4_ Or are you thinking that you really dont want to do something? Once you have identified how youre feeling, you can label it by saying, for example, “Im feeling angry” or “Im feeling lonely” .You can understand a difficult feeling and help yourselfto handle it. _5_ If youre upset about a difficult feeling, like “Im feeling angry”, you might count to ten to calm down. Perhaps you notice “Im feeling nervous”, and you might talk to someone about it. The person you talk to may be able to give you reassurance, more information, a different point of view, or even help you take action to deal with the cause of your difficult feeling.AExperts call this “name it to tame it” .BHow can you deal with different feelings?CPerhaps you have the thought, “Its not fair” .DFeelings are how people experience emotions.EFirst of all, notice whats going on with your body.FThey are shown through various body movements, to begin with.GFeelings are sometimes labelled as good or bad but that isnt helpful.Die clicks a button and watches as her neighborhood is flooded. The shorelines are first to go. _1_ . By the time seawater reaches the senior center, it has flooded streets and over a dozen brick homes. Die moves her head up and down, side to side, taking in the simulated(仿真的)view. This is what could happen to Turner Station, a historic African American community southeast of Baltimore, as sea levels rise.Climate change presents many challenges to coastal communities and to those trying to prepare for its impacts, but one of the most basic is also one of the most bothersome: _2_ Communicating the realness and immediacy(紧迫)of the climate threat is hugely important to climate researchers and those aiming to cut down what it causes. But it's also the most important to communities faced with coming changes that are already unavoidable. _3_ That's why Die and other residents are being directed to sit in metal chairs, put on virtual(模拟)reality headsets and watch their homes be flooded._4_ . It has partnered(合作)with the Port of Baltimore, a few nonprofits and a local landscape architecture firm to adopt(采用)a range of tools and ways to communicate climate change to the public, because every person is different and every place is different. The virtual reality program is only the most recent, and perhaps the most effective step. _5_ . But tricking people is not the goal of the sea level rise simulation(模拟)being used at Turner Station, says James, one of the program's developers. "The goal," he says, "is to start a conversation and help folks visualize(想象)the impacts of climate change and the solutions, and also discuss the trade-offs between them."AThen, the baseball fields at Fleming Park.BVirtual reality is the product of the rapid development of it.CThese projects need public support and inputDDoes the community depend on the shipping industry for its survival?EHow do you show people and convince them of a possible future?FVirtual reality is an immersive experience(身临其境的体验)that can trick the human brain into thinking it's real.GTurner Station, a community which gets flooded easily, is trying to prepare.Do you find yourself taking a nap (打盹) at your desk, even after what you thought was a good nights rest? Then you probably have the same question as so many others: How much do I need to sleep? _1_. This is put forward by Dr. Raj Dasgupta, an assistant professor at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. However, here are a few ways to improve your sleep.Stick to a bedtime routine. _2_. You can even keep a journal to note down these sleep times and how often you wake up at night, said Dasgupta. By doing this you can have an idea of what works for you. Besides, you should also make sure your room is dark, cool and comfortable when you go to sleep.Turn off the electronic devices. Do this as early as possible before bed. _3_. “Particularly if you are aiming to fall asleep earlier, its important to expose yourself to bright natural light as early as possible in the day, and to limit exposure to light in the hours before bedtime,” she said. “Electronic devices mimic (模仿) many of the wavelengths in sunlight that cue your body to stay awake.”_4_. Dasguptas recent study showed that focusing attention training could also help children sleep over an hour more per night. They can take breathing exercises and yoga, for example.Set good food and exercise habits. Finally, eating healthily and keeping a daily fitness routine can support better sleep at night. “_5_,” he said. “Exercise relieves stress. It also helps build up your drive to sleep at night.”ATry focusing attention techniquesBThe answer is not so straightforwardCSeek to get training of some relaxing exercisesDYou should be consistent with exercise during the dayELight exposure can affect your bodys sleep-wake cycleFThere will be a new electronic device on the market soonGIt is great to go to bed and wake up at the same time every dayWhen Failure Is a Good ThingFailure is an important process you can learn from._1_Most people view failure as something that should be avoided at all costs._2_It may have been an “F” we received on a paper or the high expectations our parents placed upon our shoulders that stopped us from trying.Award-winning psychologist and author, Ron Friedman, tells the story of how Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx, revolutionized the women's clothing industry and became a billionaire in his book, The Best Place To Work: The Art and Science of Creating an Extraordinary Workplace._3_ She had zero experience in the clothing industry, lacked an education in business and raised only $5,000 to invest. When asked where she found the courage, she gave all credit to her dad. While most parents ask their kids, “How was your day?" when sitting down for dinner, Sara's parents asked her and her brother, “What did you fail at today?” each and every night. When interviewed by CNN's Anderson Cooper, Sara said, “Instead of failure being the outcome, failure became not trying. It forced me at a young age to want to push myself so much further out of my comfort zone.” _4_ It became more about learning and less about a personal weakness. If we view failure as weakness, we avoid stepping out of our comfort zone. _5_ It does not define us, but instead matures us. I 'm sure that there are many risks we would all take in our personal, professional and spiritual lives if we could get past a fear of failure. What has been the greatest lesson you have learned when taking a chance? Please share with us.AAnd, most importantly, it means you tried.BLet's take a look at how Sara faced failures.CIn reality, Sara's father had re-defined failure.DEarly on, Sara overcame a series of difficulties.EInstead, we must remind ourselves that failure is an action.FIt is important to reflect on what can be learnt from failure.GWe tend to connect failure with a bad experience we had as a child. How to Study at Home EffectivelyStudying at home is comfortable and relaxing. However, it can be difficult to study at home effectively. Watching TV, eating snacks or looking through social media may take you away from your study. _1_. _2_ Students of all ages should get at least eight hours of sleep every night. It's the best way to ensure that the brain is refreshed and ready to process all of the information during the day. A full night's sleep is especially important the night before a test. Study at the right time_3_. Some people are night owls (夜猫子) while others prefer the morning. Don't try to force yourself to study when your brain isn't at its best. Try to study when you are the most energetic, so that you are able to gain more information. Have a fixed study areaWhether it's the kitchen table or the desk in your bedroom, it is necessary to create a fixed study area. Try to reserve (预留) your bed for sleeping and avoid studying in it. _4_. And keep your fixed study space organized so you can put more time into studying instead of looking for a pen or other things. Create a timetableCreating a timetable helps to organize your time. It is especially useful when you have different subjects to study. _5_. Set reasonable limits for how much time you spend studying each day, and break your study time into manageable periods of time.AGet a good night's sleepBFocus on important informationCStudying in bed can make you feel sleepyDHere are a few ways to help you be effectiveEMake sure that your study space is large enoughFEvery student has his/her own daily highs and lowsGWrite your schedule down so you can refer to it oftenDGECA【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍的是处理不太好的感觉的办法。1空格后说“They can include anger, sadness, worry, loneliness and shame, as well as surprise, happiness, courage and hope, among many others.(它们可能包括愤怒、悲伤、担心、孤独和羞耻,也可能包括惊喜、快乐、勇气和希望,等等。)”,空格处应引出各种各样的感觉,D选项“Feelings are how people experience emotions.(感觉是人们体验情绪的方式。)”引出了什么是感觉,后文对其作具体说明,因此D选项引起下文,符合语境,故选D。2空格后说“All feelings are there to be felt and some can be more uncomfortable than others.(所有的感觉都可以被感受到,有些感觉可能比其他感觉更不舒服。)”,说明感觉不分好坏,G选项“Feelings are sometimes labelled as good or bad but that isnt helpful.(感觉有时被贴上好或坏的标签,但这并没有什么帮助。)”说明不能简单地说感觉是好或坏,和空后内容呼应,因此G选项承上启下,符合语境,故选G。3由后文的“Next, pay attention to what youre thinking at this time.(接下来,注意这个时候你在想什么。)”可知,空格处应说“首先该干什么”,E选项“First of all, notice whats going on with your body.(首先,注意你的身体状况。)”说明了首先要干什么。且其中的“whats going on with your body(你的身体状况)”和空格后的“Are your fists clenched (攥紧)? Does it seem like theres a knot in your stomach?(你握紧拳头了吗?你的胃好像有点难受吗?)”相呼应,空后就是说的身体的情况,因此E选项承上启下,符合语境,故选E。4空格前说“Next, pay attention to what youre thinking at this time.(接下来,注意这个时候你在想什么。)”,因此空格处应提到你可能的想法,C选项“Perhaps you have the thought, “Its not fair”.(也许你会想,“这不公平”。)”说明了你的可能的想法,因此C选项承接上文,符合语境,故选C。5空格后说“If youre upset about a difficult feeling, like “Im feeling angry”, you might count to ten to calm down. Perhaps you notice “Im feeling nervous”, and you might talk to someone about it.(如果你因为一种困难的感觉而难过,比如“我很生气”,你可能会数到十来冷静下来。也许你注意到“我感到紧张”,你可能会和别人谈论这件事。)”,因此这里是在说人如何处理这些感觉,A选项“Experts call this “name it to tame it”.(专家称之为“给它命名并驯服它”。)”说明了人会识别出感觉,并想办法解决它,因此A选项承上启下,符合语境,故选A。AECGF【分析】本文为说明文。文章主要讲述了为了提高居民对气候变化的真实性和即时性的认识,巴尔的摩东南部的一个历史悠久的非洲裔美国人社区运用了虚拟现实技术,帮助人们想象气候变化的影响和解决方案。1上文“Die clicks a button and watches as her neighborhood is flooded. The shorelines are first to go.(Die单击按钮,看着她的社区被洪水淹没。海岸线是第一个被摧毁的)”;A项“Then, the baseball fields at Fleming Park.(然后是弗莱明公园的棒球场)”,可知,洪水在摧毁海岸线之后,又毁了棒球场。上文有“first”,A项有“then”,语意连贯,为先后顺序。故选A项。2前半句“Climate change presents many challenges to coastal communities and to those trying to prepare for its impacts,   but one of the most basic is also one of the most bothersome: (气候变化给沿海社区和那些设法为其影响而做着准备的人带来了许多挑战,但其中最基本也是最麻烦的之一:)”可知,关键词为“many challenges”,E项“How do you show people and convince them of a possible future?(你如何向人们展示并说服他们相信一个可能的未来?)”,解释了上文中提及的这些挑战中“最基本也是最麻烦的那个”。下文“Communicating the realness and immediacy (紧迫) of the climate threat is hugely important to climate researchers and those aiming to cut down what it causes. (传递气候威胁的真实性和即时性是对于气候研究人员和那些旨在减少其结果的人来说,非常重要)”可知,E项的“a possible future”即指下文的“the realness and immediacy of the climate threat”,上下文语意连贯,故选E项。3上文“But it's also the most important to communities faced with coming changes that are already unavoidable.(但对于面临即将到来的已经不可避免的变化的社区来说,这也是最重要的)”,下文“That's why Die and other residents are being directed to sit in metal chairs, put on virtual (模拟)reality headsets and watch their homes be flooded (这就是为什么Die和其他居民被要求坐在金属椅子,戴上模拟现实耳机,观看着家园被洪水淹没)”可知,居民们看洪水淹没社区的虚拟场景以了解气候威胁的严重性。C项“These projects need public support and input (这些项目需要公众的支持和投入)”可知,上文为“因”,C项为“果”;C项为“因”,下文为“果”。故选C项。4下文“It has partnered (合作) with the Port of Baltimore, a few nonprofits and a local landscape architecture firm to adopt (采用) a range of tools and ways to communicate climate change to the public, because every person is different and every place is different.(它和巴尔的摩港(Baltimore),一些非营利组织和当地的景观建筑公司合作,采用一系列通信工具和通信方式向公众传递气候变化,因为每个人都是不同的,每个地方都是不同的)”;G项“Turner Station, a community which gets flooded easily, is trying to prepare. (特纳车站(Turner Station),一个容易被洪水淹没的社区,正努力做好准备)”可知,下文的主语“It”指代G项的“Turner Station”,语意顺畅,故选G项。5下文“But tricking people is not the goal of the sea level rise simulation (模拟) being used at Turner Station, says James, one of the program's developers.(但是欺骗人不是使用在特纳站海平面上升模拟场景的目的,一个程序的开发人员詹姆斯说)”;F项“Virtual reality is an immersive experience (身临其境的体验) that can trick the human brain into thinking it's real (虚拟现实是一个身临其境的体验,可以欺骗人类大脑思考这是真实的)”可知,两句中都有“trick”,虚拟现实,会骗人,但运用虚拟现实展示气候变化带来的洪水泛滥场景,不是用来骗人的,而是为了提高居民对气候变化的真实性和即时性的认识。故选F项。BGEAD【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了几条关于如何提高睡眠质量的建议。1根据上文“Then you probably have the same question as so many others: How much do I need to sleep?(那么你可能和其他很多人都有同样的问题:我需要睡多少)”可知,B项“The answer is not so straightforward(这个答案并不是那么简单)”紧承上文,针对上文提出的问题作出了一个回答,符合语境。故选B项。2根据该空前“Stick to a bedtime routine.(保持规律的就寝时间)”和该空后“You can even keep a journal to note down these sleep times and how often you wake up at night, said Dasgupta.(斯古普塔说,你甚至可以写日记,记下这些睡眠时间和你晚上醒来的频率)”可知,此处主要强调规律作息的重要性,因此,G项“It is great to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day(每天在同一时间上床睡觉和起床是很棒的)”切题,该选项承上启下,符合语境。故选G项。3根据下文“Particularly if you are aiming to fall asleep earlier, its important to expose yourself to bright natural light as early as possible in the day, and to limit exposure to light in the hours before bedtime,” she said.(她说:“特别是如果你想早点入睡,那么在白天尽早将自己暴露在明亮的自然光下,并在睡前几个小时限制暴露在光线下是很重要的。”)”可知,此处主要强调光线对睡眠的影响,因此,E项“Light exposure can affect your bodys sleepwake cycle (光照会影响你身体的睡眠觉醒周期)”切题,且该选项中的“light”与下文中的“light”相呼应。故选E项。4根据下文“Dasguptas recent study showed that focusing attention training could also help children sleep over an hour more per night. They can take breathing exercises and yoga, for example. (达斯古塔最近的研究表明,集中注意力训练也可以帮助儿童每晚多睡一个小时。例如,他们可以做呼吸练习和瑜伽)”可知,本段主要阐述集中注意力的技巧,因此,A项“Try focusing attention
