Conclusion天津大学仁爱学院2019届本科生毕业设计(论文)A Brief Analysis of the Cultivation of Business Culture Awareness in Business English Teaching. Introduction to Business Culture AwarenessA. The Definition of Business English and Business Culture Business English is a comprehensive discipline that takes linguistics as the leading factor and absorbs research methods from other disciplines. Its basic purpose is to improve cross-cultural communication ability in business situations and is mainly about the actual use of English in business trade and social activities. From this explanation, we can see that business English teaching should not only attach importance to the teaching of professional knowledge, but also to the cultivation of students' business culture awareness. The three should complement each other and are indispensable. The ultimate goal of business English teaching is to cultivate compound talents who understand international business rules and grasp the cultural characteristics of all ethnic groups in the world. Whether we can overcome cultural barriers and avoid cultural conflicts is the key to the smooth development of international business activities. Therefore, it is becoming more and more important to strengthen the cultivation of business culture awareness in business English teaching.Culture is a general and abstract concept. It represents the spiritual carrier of people and embodies the value of peoples lives. Besides, culture is a mode of learning behavior. In business English, business culture involves the different cultures of China and foreign countries, which are reflected in the traditional business customs and business etiquette of different nationalities and countries.Culture is conceptual value and sensory impression, including abstract sensory value and the perception of the world reflected in people's behavior. Because of the existence of culture, the world becomes more colorful. People can communicate through culture. To some extent, culture is communication. Every culture in the world has its own unique language. This language is made up of ideals, values, beliefs, traditions, and other attributes that make up the nature of a person's communication style. Understanding the way communication works in a culture not only allows people to communicate a message in an expected way, but also helps people identify differences and similarities in many cultures. Miscommunication or ignorance by a cultural group can lead to segregation, division and war. Humans can discover culture through communication. In addition, people can find ways to communicate in the culture. Culture and communication go hand in hand. In other words, culture is a key factor in communication. Language is one of the manifestations of culture. Language is the embodiment of culture and one of the manifestations of culture. Due to the differences in language environment, customs and business etiquette, in English and Chinese cultures, the meaning expressed by business English and Chinese appear to be the same on the surface, but the actual meaning is different. This is the difference in language and culture. Therefore, in the process of business English teaching, the cultivation of business culture awareness is one of the compulsory courses. The cultivation of business awareness is the basis for learning business English well.B. The Importance of Cultivating Business Culture AwarenessSince the 1980s, business English has been gradually valued and welcomed by people. Teaching and research on business English has also begun to be concerned by scholars. International business English has gradually become a hot topic in domestic universities. With the rapid economic development, China's foreign cooperation and exchanges in various fields are increasingly frequent. The training requirements for foreign language talents in the 21st century are comprehensive, which mainly include: foreign language foundation, foreign language professional knowledge and foreign language application ability. These three aspects are mapped into business English teaching and reflected in three aspects: the background knowledge of business English, the use of language in business English and the ability to communicate in business English. The background knowledge of business English is related to the proportion of students in class and their position. The use of language in business English includes learning common sentence patterns and vocabulary in English.Business English communicative competence mainly refers to the skills needed in business communication. The competence in this aspect includes both linguistic and non-linguistic aspects.Business English teaching objectives include the above aspects, but in the actual business English teaching, most business English teachers still focus on vocabulary, grammar and text understanding of business English in class, which greatly improves the learners' linguistic competence, but the cultivation of non-linguistic competence, such as cultural awareness, has not changed. Business English plays a special role in international business culture communication, containing strong business atmosphere and business culture. It has different characteristics according to different countries' business habits. It is an important task to cultivate students' business awareness in business English teaching. While cultivating business language and culture, we should strengthen the cultivation of students' business awareness and enhance their business communication ability. Language is not only the most direct way to express human feelings, but also the carrier of culture. On account of the special role of business English, business culture must be integrated into business English teaching. Professional cultural knowledge and language knowledge should be carried out at the same time. The flexible use of business English should be accompanied by the awareness of business culture. In today's world economic integration development, cultivating interdisciplinary talents, crossing cultural differences and reducing cultural conflicts is the key to the smooth development of international business communication. As a matter of fact, cultivating business culture awareness in business English teaching is undisputed of great importance in business English teaching.Today's society requires business English professionals not only to have profound accumulation of business English language and strong business communication skills, but also to have a systematic and comprehensive understanding of business background knowledge and culture. Only in this way can they better communicate with foreign guests and better carry out business activities. However, most English teachers only pay attention to the teaching of theoretical knowledge and the understanding of words, grammar and phonetics in class. Although students have a solid theoretical knowledge, they know little about the cultural part or even have no concept. As a result, many students have achieved excellent results in school, but only after taking part in the work can they find that learning these words, words, sentences and grammar well does not play a great role in their work. When they are really communicating, they will encounter difficulties, causing communication obstacles or unnecessary misunderstandings and conflicts. Although some students have passed some tests related to business English through the current learning model, they are unable to adapt well to their jobs after graduation. The basic reason lies in the lack of business culture knowledge in communication with others, the characteristics of the native communication language are first used, which is also easy to cause cultural conflicts and unpleasant things. Therefore, in the current business English teaching, the cultivation of business culture awareness plays a crucial role in the effective use of business English.C. Summary This chapter mainly takes the introduction of business English teaching as a clue to emphasis the importance of cultivating business culture awareness. In today's world economic integration, the key to the smooth development of international business communication is to cultivate compound talents, cross cultural differences and reduce cultural conflicts. Therefore, the cultivation of business culture awareness in business English teaching is the future trend of business English teaching. Common Cultural Differences and Manifestations in International Business ActivitiesA. The Different Manifestations of Business Culture1. The Difference in Business Time ViewsAs an important part of the deep structure of culture, the concept of time also determines people's words and deeds to a great extent. Most westerners have a unit time concept, and their time concept is usually gold. Money, in their view, time is money, so westerners pay attention to work. Efficiency, accustomed to business activities according to plans and arrangements; China, Russia Countries are more inclined to the concept of multiple time; that is, planning multiple things at the same time. Emotion, subjectivity and flexibility are relatively strong. In international business, travelers from the United States are often shocked first by the way members of other cultures understand and use their time. Like most Nordics, Americans' view of time is what anthropologists call a one-time view. They believe that time is something that is almost tangible. The American speech reflects this attitude when people talk about saving time, squeezing out time, owning time, wasting time, using time and using time. In American culture, time is money, so the allocation of time is very careful. Appointments are arranged in the appointment book and strictly observed. Tasks are executed one at a time in a predetermined sequence. This single chronic orientation is not common. Culture with multi-cultural tendency regards time as the secondary position of personal relationship. People don't care much about living by the clock. The meeting will be held as long as it takes, and they will not end suddenly.2. The Difference in Business Space Views The differences between eastern and western commercial cultures are also reflected in the concept of space. Western countries attach great importance to the protection of personal privacy and have a strong sense of space and self-protection. In eastern countries, distance and space are not particularly emphasized for business activities, and few business operators realize that space is also an inviolable right for westerners. In many cases, it is not uncommon for Chinese business personnel to be mistaken for violating each others rights in order to close ties with each other. Westerners usually have a strong sense of space and personal secrets. Because of these two needs, they often use The Wall, doors and plywood to separate the areas where individuals work or live. If the door is open, it means an invitation. You can gently knock at the door to show respect for the owner of the office, then you will naturally be welcomed. China, due to historical reasons, people generally has the ability to share regional space. I seldom realize that space is also an inviolable property for westerners. There is also a default practice in western families, except for relatives, close friends or emergencies. Generally, no phone calls are made after 9 p.m. Directly related to the concept of space is the distance between people. It reflects the social identities of both sides of the conversation. Western bosses always keep quite a wide distance from their subordinates when talking to them. However, the space for equal social status parties to talk is relatively reduced. In business activities there is usually an arm's length .Within this distance, communicators can talk softly. But I couldn't see each others tiny facial expressions. This is called polite distance.
