It was winter, and on that night,  the wind was really blowing hardAs my mom and I headed to the restaurant from our car,  a girl about my age and her mother came up to us. They asked if we had any spare change (零钱). My mom right away asked where they lived. They pointed to an old car in a parking lot across the street. The girl said there were six of them living in that car    My mom said she had something to do after handing the people a few dollars. She sent me inside the restaurant with my dad and my three siblings. But she didn't come. Later,  I found out she had gone home and put all the food in our cupboards into a few bags. Then,  she brought that food over to the car and handed the bags to the familyI wasn't there when that happened, but I can only imagine the joy it brought to those people    A few days later ,  when I actually found out what she had done , I asked her why she helped those people. She told me that they were not lucky. I remember the face of that girl who had asked us for change. She was the same age as me,  yet we looked so different    Here I stood, dressed in almost new clothes, headed to eat in a restaurant and then came back home to the bedroom I shared with my younger sister. I remember thinking that the other girl didn't have any food to eat and she was heading back to a cold car shared with five other people    After painting this picture in my mind, I understood why my mom had done what she did. They are also looking for ways to get exercise without going to a gym. So,  it may not be surprising that the pandemic (疫情) has led to a major increase in bicycle sales.    In the US,  bicycles at big stores have sold out. And small bicycle stores cannot keep up with demand for "familystyle" bicycles:  the lowcost,  easytoride models. "The bicycle industry is seeing its biggest sales increase since the oil crisis of the 1970s, " said Jay Townley,  an industry expert. He compared the sale of bicycles to the rush to buy products like toilet paper at the start of the pandemic.    The rise in bicycle sales is not happening just in the US. Italy has created bicycle paths for the growing number of people who want to avoid public transportation. In London,  city officials plan to ban cars from some central roads. Bike shop owners in Manila say demand is even stronger than what they see at Christmas time.    Of course,  you can only buy a bicycle if you can find one. In the US,  the shortages now mean it may take many months to get a bicycle. High demand is not the only reason for the shortage. Many bicycle factories were _ to stop the spread of COVID19. The increase in bicycle demand began in March as countries began to close down. In April,  the sale of bicycles increased 200 percent in the US.    Joe Minutolo is the coowner of Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop in Maine. He said he hoped the increased sales meant a change in the way people think about transportation. "People are having a chance to rethink things, " he said,  "Maybe we'll all learn something out of this,  and something really good will happen." She and her research team wanted to know the Internet is changing memory. In the first experiment,  they gave people 40 unimportant facts to type into a computer. The first group of people understood that the computer would save the information. The second group understood that the computer would not save it. Later,  the second group remembered the information better. People in the first group knew they could find the information again,  so they did not try to remember it.    In another experiment,  the researchers gave people facts to remember,  and told them where to find the information on the Internet. The information was in a specific computer folder (文件夹). Surprisingly,  people later remember the folder location (位置) better than the facts. When people use the Internet,  they do not remember the information. Rather,  they remember how to find it. This is called "transactive memory (交互记忆)"    According to Sparrow,  we are not becoming people with poor memories as a result of the Internet. Instead,  computer users are developing stronger transactive memories;  that is,  people are learning how to organize huge quantities of information so that they are able to access it at a later date. This doesn't mean we are becoming either more or less intelligent,  but there is no doubt that the way we use memory is changing. (1)The author starts the passage with two questions to_.A. lead to the topic of the textB. show his writing purposeC. tell us the problem the Internet brought usD. explain how to store information (2)Which of the following is true according to the second paragraph?_A.
