They have learnt English for 6 years and master some vocabulary. However, there is a certain gap between different students. Also, they may have difficulties in some words and phrases and are not familiar with the themes in this unit. Contents: Review the vocabulary in book1 unit 5Objectives: 1. Instructional objectives(language knowledge and language skills)1). Master the words and phrases from meaning,spelling and using. 2. Educational objectives (affect, learning strategy and cultural awareness) 1). Develop students the strategy of memorizing vocabulary efficiently. 3. Personal objectives 1). Get more experience to guide students to review the vocabulary.Procedures and time allotment: Stage 1 Getting students ready for learning (3 mins) Step 1 GreetingsStep 2 Watching a video clip: what is a hero Q1: Can you use some words and phrases to describe your hero?Q2: Do you know who he is?Stage 2 warming-up (5 mins) Step 1 Raise Ss memory of the vocabulary Q1: Lets test how well you master them? Q2: Can you use a word or phrase to describe this picture?Stage 3 Games (help Ss to memorize the words and phrases more efficiently) (17 mins) Game 1 Guessing based on English explanations: check Ss understanding of some words, lead Ss to know the way of mind map and help them to remember the vocabulary Game 2: Word search game(to check their spelling of words, lead Ss to know the way of using affix and help them to remember the vocabulary) Game 3: A word-guessing game(act & guess)(to check their understanding of words and teach them the tip about remembering more words in a short time)Game 4: Fill in the blanks with the same word(to check Ss understanding of the word-formation)Game 5: Fill in the blanks with the suitable letter(to check their spelling of words)Game 6 Fill in the blanks with the suitable phrases and then apply them in the passage.Stage 4 Summary and group work (10 mins)Step1. To make the lesson vivid, the teacher designed meaningful activities, which relate to students daily life and their existing knowledge. The objectives the author designed covers different types of objectives and students, based on their different level, are basically will meet most of these at the end of this class. Secondly, this lesson combined two different teaching methods and thought over students, teaching contents and teaching objectives. By using Task-based Language teaching, students acquired information from easy to difficult content and developed their abilities of memorizing and using words & phrases. In addition, Communicative Language Teaching was applied in this lesson, which cultivated the awareness of improving themselves. However, the teacher thinks that activities designed in the lesson doesnt meet the need of grade three Ss perfectly.Thirdly, this lesson is student-centered, providing students the opportunities to participate in the class. After this class, students will finish some tasks and activities well and their performance in class will prove that they are highly interested in the class during the first half of this lesson. Meanwhile, some of poor students may be distracted during the games stage . Hence, the teacher chose to ask these students the easier questions in the tasks and tried to talk with them after class.By designing and giving this lesson, the teacher will gain useful experience, which is conducive to his personal improvement.
