Teaching Plan for an Open ClassModule 2 My home town and my countryUnit 2 Cambridge is a beautiful city in the east of England. Teaching model : Reading and writing. Teaching method: PWP approach, top-down approach. Teaching aims:To describe the location of a place.To get information about Cambridge, London and England. To write about your home town. Teaching Objectives:Key vocabulary: north, south, west, home town, be famous for, island, area, low, mountain, countryside, umbrella.Key structures: It has a population of about 120,000. so it is bigger and busier than Cambridge.It is never very hot in summer or very cold in winter.V Key points:To understand passages about ones home town mainly. To use what to be learned to introduce ones hometown.VI. Difficult Points:To describe ones home town by using comparatives of adjectives.VII. Teaching a ids : Bee Player, Multi-Media.VIII. Teaching Steps Step 1 Lead-in1. Show some maps to ask and answer about locations.2. Read the four compass points (north, south, east, west) separately and then have the students repeat.3. Learn some new words.4. Look at the map of England and read the sentences in Activity 1. Ask the students to look at the map and tell what it shows.5. Ask the students to look at the map of England and ask about the locations.6. Let the students look at the map of China to ask and answer questions in pairs.Step 2 Reading1. Ask the students to listen to the recording about the reading passage in Activity 2 and try to answer two questions.2. Let the students read the passage and choose a title for each picture.3. Complete the table comparing Cambridge with London.Ask them to complete the table on their own. Ask them to check answers with a partner.Elicit answers in full sentences from t he whole class.4. Complete the passage with the words and expression in the box.Read through the words and expression in the box with the class. Make sure they are clear about the meanings.Ask the students to read the passage. Make clear what it is about.Tell them to read again and complete the passage. Elicit answers from the whole class.Nominate a few students to read the passage aloud line by line.Step 3 writing1. Answer the questions and write notes about your home town.
