The greatest power you possess for succeeding in life is your understanding that life gives you a fresh start any moment you choose to start fresh. You've only to test the truth of this fact about the newness of life to discover the incredible freedom that waits for you just behind it. Nothing that stood in your way before stands there now in the same way. It's all new, even if you can't as yet see it that way. To the Chinese people, Spring Festival is as important as Christmas to people in the West. According to the Chinese tradition, preparation for the festival starts from the beginning of the last lunar month and festival celebrations extend until the Lantern Festival on the 15th of the first lunar month. As a matter of fact, nowadays few Chinese people can afford spending a whole month on festival activities due to the fast-paced life. However, most of the working people can enjoy a week-long public holiday, during which the most important are the New Year's Eve and the first three days of the first lunar month. Flags fly at half-staff at the base of the Washington Monument in memory of those who perished aboard the space shuttle Columbia Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, in Washington. Policy makers of the Federal Reserve【联邦储备局】lowered the banks main interest rate by one half percentage point to six percent. The goal is to prevent the economy from slowing down too much. The Federal Reserve policy makers noted a continuing1) drop in sales and production. Their decision to lower the cost of borrowing money was not expected at this time. Financial markets rose sharply2) after the announcement. 注解:1) slowing down 下滑,减速2) continuing a. (5):Abducted Pearl's Wife Remarks on Their Love妻子评论与被绑架丈夫珀尔之间的爱We are two people who met and fell in love because we have the same ideal, you know, and all my life and all his life and our life together is just a big effort to try to create dialogues between civilizations. We all relish an extra hour of rest on an occasional Saturday morning, but researchers say oversleeping on weekends can be a clue to the extent of the sleep debt you're building up during the workweek. If you sleep more than an hour late on weekends, try to increase the amount of sleep you get during the week. (7):Tribute to New York City Firefighters颂歌献给纽约消防队员There are no words to express what we all feel for you and the courage you have shown in the face of unbearable loss. I salute you and your brothers and sisters who get up every day and go to work knowing that it may be the last. Who among us could imagine the sacrifice you would be asked to bear on that terrible day? Only you know how it is to continue every day in your struggle to clear away the rubbleboth physical and emotional. If you can't remove the stress, remove yourself. Slip away once in a while for some private time. These quiet moments may give you a fresh perspective on your problems. Avoid stressful people. For example, if you don't get along with your father-in-law but you don't want to make an issue of it, invite other in-laws at the same time you invite him. Having other people around will absorb some of the pressure you would normally feel. The single most important thing in achieving economic competitiveness is changing the way you do things and in the end that means all innovation is about. It is saying yesterday we did things this way, today I've found some way of doing some bit of that better and therefore that gives me advantage and tomorrow I'll think of something else I can do better. Would you like to hone your professional skills from the comfort of your home or get a college degree without setting foot on campus? It sounds too good to be true? There are now thousands of online classes available on the World Wide Web and that number will soon mushroom into tens of thousands. For decades, students have turned to distance learning to further their educational goals. From correspondence courses to tele-classes, distance learning has served the needs of people who cannot physically attend classes. With the explosion of information technology and the Internet, you can now have a virtual classroom right on your desktop. In most cases, to take a course you need only your computer, a web browser and Internet access. There are not enough words to tell you I love you, not enough ways to show you I care, not enough laughter and good times to wish you, not enough wonderful moments to share. A million bright mornings would not be too many, warm evenings forever would still be too few - I want you and need you so much that it seems there aren't enough days in a lifetime with you. Americans love big cars. They buy huge trucks and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) that could go across a desert and back to take their kids to school. It really is a horrible thing for the environment, since these vehicles produce more pollution and use more gas than smaller vehicles. For Americans, however, cars are more than just a way to get somewhere. They're symbols of wealth, and sometimes, the one place they can get away from everything. Driving in their cars by themselves, they don't have to think about their work, family, love-life, or anything else but the open road. They put some good music on the car stereo, turn on the air conditioner, roll up the windows, and just drive. All my life I've been waiting for you.The first time we talked, it was like we had known each other forever. I didn't even know you, but I felt like you were already an old friend. I waited in anticipation for months until I flew to Sweden to study at university in Stockholm. It seemed so far away, but I dreamed about what it would be like when you met me at the airport in Copenhagen. And the day finally came, I was so nervous. For 9 hours over the Atlantic, my heart was pounding out of my chest. But when I finally saw you (with your little bouquet of flowers that was making you sneeze) and you ran to me and just about knocked me over with your hug. Well, I knew, I knew that everything I thought about you was true. I knew you would never hurt me. I knew I would tear down all the walls that I had built up around my heart for you, because I knew I now had you to protect me.Every day I love you more. Even when we have misunderstandings, I can't stop thinking about how much I love you. Can you imagine how annoying it is for me when all I want to do is be angry about something that happened, but I can't because the second I look at you, my heart melts. It's annoying, but I love it. I love not being angry. I love not being selfish. I love doing things for you, just to do it, not for something in return. This letter is a small gift to you. We missed having a honeymoon, and I know Hawaii's always been a dream for you. It's no guarantee, but I thought I'd try.I've finally found you, and I love everything about you, especially your "faults". I saved myself for you emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically. I loved you before I knew you existed because I knew that God was saving someone for me. (14):The best kind of education最好的教育“There is much debate as to the best kind of education for students today.  Some think private schools are tops. A lot of money goes into these schools and the programs are usually of a high quality, yet the tuition fees are often more than the average person can afford. Others think that given a good administration and teachers who care, public schools can offer good educations as well. One problem is that classes in public schools tend to have many more students than private schools, and therefore individual attention can sometimes suffer. Generally, however, quality is based on the individual schools and student interests rather than whether the schools are publicly or privately funded.” 管理, 经营, 行政部门突破口语之独白(15):A disgruntled traveler一位不满的旅客“Traveling involves so much stress! Preparation is especially hard - trying to arrange the transportation, accommodation, and time off from work.  Packing isn't easy. How can you possibly know everything you may or may not need in a place that's largely unknown to you? Assuming you ever reach your destination, you have to communicate with people who often don't speak your language and you have to navigate your way around an area you have no idea about. How are you supposed to relax under such conditions? And all that money you're spending! For what? I don't get it at all.”
