Unit 5 The power of nature 教学设计第2课时Period 2 Language Study一、教学内容分析The emphasis of this period will be placed on the important new words, phrases and sentence patterns in Warming Up, Pre-reading, Reading, Comprehending and Discovering useful words and expressions in Learning about Language.There are altogether 44 new words and phrases in these five parts. 17 of them are marked with triangles, which shows that the students needn't leam them by heart.lt is enough to recognize them when meeting them while reading the passage.The other 27 should all be remembered, among which the following words and expressions are even more important: absolutely, make one's way, alongside, appoint, wave, suit, potential, actual.They are all very useful and important.So are the sentence patterns “Having collected and evaluated the information, I help other scientists to predict where lava from the volcano will flow next and how fhst"T was about to go back to sleep when suddenly my bedroom became as bright as day." and "The other two climbed down into the crater to collect some lava for later study, but this being my first experience, I stayed at the top and watched them."
