第三章翻译第一节翻译部分概述与应试技巧大学英语四级新题型中的翻译部分实为汉译英，为新增主观题，占总成绩的5%, 测试考生在句子、短语层面上的考察能力。该部分涉及知识点（语法、词汇）繁多，要 求考生对句子层面上有较强的表达能力，因此，这一部分是新题型四级考试中的难点部 分。但这并不意味着此部分无规律而言。就新四级考试样题及2006年6月24日考过 的新四级真题来看，翻译部分考点为词汇、短语及结构的翻译。就范围而言，没有脱离 以往四级考试词汇与语法部分考试范畴，但考生须多留意的是特定内容在英语里所使用 的特定表达方式，另外，除了了解特定内容或特定结构在英文里的表达方式外，如何在 句子中与前后都形成和谐一致的照应也是需要考生通过积累努力达到的。另外，翻译 部分考题在句子层面进行。但句子的部分内容已经给出，要求考生在给出的框架下完成 句子，这在一定程度上使翻译变得简单，但也因限定了考生可选择的表达范围，增加了 考试难度。考生在备战翻译题时，应注意以下几点：一.通读全句，确定翻译部分语法结构例1： Young people are not （满足于只观看艺术品）.【分析】此题中空格前面已出现be动词，因此翻译部分受到了限定。这时应考虑 使用形容词形式表达“满足”，然后完成词汇层面的转换。例 2 ： Investigations agreed that passengers on the airliner .（在撞机的一瞬间就一定死亡了）此题中包含肯定的推测“一定”，因此首先考虑用must表推测，另外再考虑时态 问题。这是对过去发生的事情的推测，因此must后应接完成时。语法问题确 定后，再考虑词汇层面的翻译问题。二.根据句子内容确定待翻译部分中文的确切意义，选择对应词汇例1： Mike's uncle（坚持住在这家旅馆）.【分析】中文部分包含“坚持”，单就词汇而言，英文中有“ persist in” “stick to” “ adhere to"，“insist on"，“insist”等。具体到本题句子，“坚持”的具体含义是“不 改变主义/想法”，因此选择用insist,再考虑句子层面，用insist that he live in this hotel.三.完成题目后，检查时态、语态、主谓、单复数、拼写是否有误考生在读题目后第一反应一般是如何翻译内容，即如何将中文内容转换成英文的 内容，难免在语法上会忽略一些细节。因此，题目完成后，检查语法细节对题目 完成的质量具有重要作用。第二节翻译模拟与解析True friendship foresees the needs of others （而不是声明自己的需求）.1.
