My lesson consists of the following aspects, the analysis of teaching material and students, teaching aims, key and difficult points and so on.1 .Analysis of teaching materialsFirst of all, let, s focus on the analysis of teaching material. This lesson is chosen from PEP English book, the second semester of grade 7, unit 6. The topic is about festival and missing home. After this lesson, students will deepen their impression of the Present Continuous Tense and its structure.2 .Analysis of studentsStudents in Grade 7 already have some experience of festival, so it is not difficult for them to understand this topic. But they cannot use English to express themselves and communicate with others very well. So in this period, I would arrange a variety of activities to help them join in my class.3 .Analysis of teaching aimsNow, let, s move to the analysis of teaching aims.Knowledge aims:Students can learn word groups like “watching TV "studying in the US”, and "talking on the phone”.Students can understand the sentence structures “I am doing sth." and "Shc/Hc is doing sth. M and use them in daily life.Ability aim:Students can grasp the main idea by fast reading and the specific information by careful reading.Emotional aim:Students, interest in learning English can be improved.4 .Analysis of teaching key point and difficult pointKey point:Comprehend the passage deeply and master the usage of the sentence patterns like ”I am doing sth." and “She/He is doing sth?Difficult point:Use these sentence patterns in daily life and know how to describe things in the Present Continuous Tense.5 .Analysis of teaching methods and learning methodswill mainly use Communicative Teaching Method and Task-based Teaching Method as my teaching methods. In order to let students be the real host of the class. I will ask them to work in groups, and study in a cooperative way.6 .Analysis of teaching aidsIn order to draw students1 attention, PowerPoint and some pictures will be used in my lesson.7 .Analysis of teaching proceduresStep 1 Warm-up and Lead-inFirstly, I will greet my class with the sentence “How is everything going?”. And then we will play a guessing game together. I will show some songs and pictures about festivals and then they will have a discussion about it. For example: "boys and girls, are you ready? Go! We wish you a merry Christmas. We wish you aAmerry Christmas. Yes, it's Christmas day. Clever! What do people do in this festival? In this way, I can attract their attention in today's topic and lead in the new lesson naturally.Step 2 Pre-readingIn this section, I will ask my students to look at the four clocks in 2a. Then tell them to imagine that I have some friends all around the world. What time is it in their places and what are they doing? Then I will introduce the time difference in different country and review some useful expressions, such as "watching TV", and "studying in the US”. Meanwhile they can guess what this passage is mainly about according to the picture on the textbook. This step can develop students9 predicting skill and lay a good foundation for the next part.Step 3 While-readingIn such a nice atmosphere, Fil use Task-based Teaching Method to begin my class. Students will read at least for three times. In the first time, I will give them 3 minutes. Students should answer my 14 questions: "What's the story mainly about?” "Why are Zhu Hui's family watching boat races and making zongzi?” Then I will divide my students into several groups and make a competition. Fast reading can help students understand the whole passage quickly and practice their logic thinking. Their skimming skill can be improved as well. Then, in the second reading, I will ask my students “Does Zhu Hui like his host family? What does he think about his home in China?”, then fill in the table on the blackboard. For the last reading, student should read after the tape. In the whole section, students can understand this passage deeply. What's more, listening to the tape can practice their pronunciation and intonation.Step 4 Post-readingNow, it should be post-reading. In order to make sure that the students can understand the new lesson, I will arrange 2 activities. Firstly, role play. They can finish the task under my guidance to play the role of Zhu Hui and his cousin respectively. After 2 minutes, I will ask some volunteers to share their dialogue with the whole class.Secondly, discussion. Ask the students to have a discussion about the connection between festivals and the feeling of missing home, which festival makes us miss our families and why, and why people still choose to leave home, even if they will suffer from homesickness. They will be given 5 minutes to finish their discussion. During this time, Ill keep encouraging them to speak in English and show themselves confidently. At last, I will share the related proverb: "East or west, home is the best”. In this way, they can foster their interest in learning English.Step 5 Summary and homeworkIn the end of my class, I will ask some students to summarize what they have learned in this class then I will make a supplement if necessary. After class students should write about the activities about their own families on the Dragon Boat Festival.8 .
