Unit 11 Change Your Mindset改变你的思维模式When to change your mindset何时转变思维模式To achieve something, you need the right mindset. You need a mindset that believes, no. KNOWS that you can succeed at what you are aiming for. Do you have the right mindset to do well in school or achieve your goals, whether they are in sport, the arts or any other field? Or is your mind full of negative thoughts, fears and worries? How do you know when you have the wrong mindset?First, what is a mindset? Your mindset is the combination of your knowledge, including your ideas and beliefs about the world and yourself in it. It shapes your understanding of everything that you experience, your reaction to things and your actions. If you believe “My hard work in my English classes is paying off', then you are likely to do well. If you believe “I will succeed in my chosen sport”, then you can achieve it.Imagine that you are at the Sistine Chapel. For 500 years people have come to see some of the most beautiful art in the world. You have five minutes to pass through and enjoy Michelangelo artwork. But in one corner is a worker restoring that area. You have a choice-do you enjoy the beautiful ceiling art-or do you complain that the worker is obscuring a part of the ceiling? It is the same in life. We can enjoy the opportunities we are given, or focus on the problems that make life less than perfect.Allowing negative thoughts and problems to dominate your mind will stop you achieving happiness and success. Your mindset can be a cage that holds you captive. How do you know if you need to change your mindset? Below are some pointers. You see more negatives than positives. To enjoy the moment, you need to choose not to pay attention to negative thoughtswhether yours or someone else's. This docs not mean that you ignore problems, but it docs mean that you choose not to let problems kill your dreams and hopes. When you deeply examine a negative thought, you will see that it does not serve to benefit this moment or your progress. You worry all the timeWorry is using your imagination to create problems, rather than solve them. Worrying about problems does not solve them. It only steal your happiness. Most of what wc worry about never takes place. You complain about lifeWatch what you say to yourself, and others. Do you find yourself complaining about your situation, or what other people have said or done? If you do, it means that you do not accept the reality of your situation or past. That causes stress. Rather than complain, if you have the power, you should change your situation. If you cannot change your situation, then you need to accept it. Everything else is simply foolish. If something cannot be changed, then you must change your attitude about it.You want a pain-free lifeDon't fear pain. Pain is a part of living. You cannot travel new paths and attain success without the pain of hard work, taking risks and making mistakes. Ultimately, pain makes you stronger. Don't complain or worry about pain. Rather be pleased that you have the opportunity to learn new lessons. You blame others for your problemsIf you feel anger and resentment against others, blaming them for your problems, then you need to change your mindset. These negative thoughts will not change other people. They only make you bitter. Instead of being angry, choose to learn and grow from negative experiences, and then let them go. From today, you can choose your own pathand it starts with choosing your thoughts. An effective mindset is one that makes the best use of your time, energy and skills to make positive change. Your mindset will determine your future path.Your turn. What has your mindset been lately? What negative thoughts, complaints and worries are you allowing in you mind?
