Unit 5 Into the wild The Monarchs Journey Teaching PlanI. Analysis of Teaching MaterialThe teaching text titled The Monarchs Journey is one of the text from Unit 5 Book1. It is an exposition which introduce the migration of the monarchs journey to us from all aspects. The text is of moderate length and in this regard, is not difficult for students to read and understand. There are two typical features of the text. One is the vivid language it uses, such as the abundant vocabulary, varied sentence patterns and detailed descriptions of some specific scenes. The other is the clear structure of an exposition, which helps students understand the text better. These two features can better arouse students interest in reading and improve their language ability, thinking quality, cultural awareness and learning ability.Therefore, it is an ideal reading material for students to interpret the language features and for the teacher to infiltrate students values and moral feelings. Analysis of StudentsThe students are from the 1st grade,they have had the basic English skills like reading and writing. However, for the lack of listening and speaking training in their previous years, these students have difficulty in fulfilling a complete English-only class. Thanks to their interest in English and eagerness to learn more, based on proper activating tasks, they can still learn from this reading class. In the process of learning the article, students should deeply think about the relationship between people and animals, and finally form the concept of caring for animals and living in harmony. Give students some tips on how to get the main idea-title, topic sentence, pictures.
