After being diagnosed with autism, his father, Chen Xunhu, quit his job and devoted his full attention to the topic of autism. In 2012, Chen Xunhu learned that swimming could help autistic people improve their important ability and articulation (发音), so he spent months learning how to swim by watching videos and reading books. He spent several months teaching his son and discovered that his son had gradually developed the ability to control his breath under water, which significantly increased his confidence. The father laid the groundwork for his sons swimming lessons. Two hand rings and a swing are installed (安装) from the ceiling by the father to help Chen Xingrong strengthen his muscles and learn swimming movements more precisely. On one wall of their home hangs a table for Chen Xingrongs routine exercises. “I used to plan all his exercises for him, but now it is all up to him. He decides how many exercises he wants to do, and its a process of self-management,” said Chen Xunhu. In spite of all the hardships in life, Chen Xingrong managed to become an outstanding swimmer. In 2021, he won five medals, including a gold, at the 11th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the eighth National Special Olympic Games. As well as swimming, learning basic life skills is also an important part of life for a teenager with autism. Thanks to his fathers perseverance (毅力), Chen Xingrong has learned to buy food and has held voluntary jobs at supermarkets and fast-food restaurants. Meanwhile, Chen Xunhu wants the public to know more about autistic people so as to reduce misunderstanding. He organized about 500 people to watch the autism-themed film, titled Ocean Heaven, which describes how a terminally (末期的) ill father attempts to teach his son the necessary life skills to live without him.Chen Xunhu has made great efforts to make the public understand autism better and hopes all autistic people will live a wonderful life in the future.4Why did the father try to teach his son to swim?ATo help treat his sons illness.BTo build his sons confidence.CTo bring out his sons potential.DTo encourage his son to start a hobby.5What do we know about Chen Xingrong?AHe preferred to swim at home.BHe kept to a tight training routine.CHe has got great rewards for his efforts.DHe had difficulty in strengthening his muscles.6How did the father help people understand autism (自闭症) better?ABy organizing people to watch an autism-themed film.BBy leading them to do voluntary work for autistic teenagers.CBy showing the daily lives of children with autism in pictures.DBy sharing his experience in teaching autistic children life skills.7Which of the following words can best describe Chen Xunhu?ACreative and brave.BCaring and determined.CAmbitious and demanding.DOptimistic and humorous.C(议论文)In this modern age, most of us have forgotten to be patient and get angry very quickly over minor things like a traffic jam, a baby crying and such things. It often seems so easy to get what we want right away that when we have to wait even a little while, it seems like we are waiting for ages. We used to be happy to wait 10-15 minutes it took to reheat food in the oven (烤箱), but now were impatient when waiting two minutes it takes in the microwave. With the convenience provided by modern society, is patience still a virtue (美德) in the fast-paced world? To begin with, Id like to share the meaning of the word “patience”. Generally it means being able to tolerate delay without getting impatient. However, it isnt necessarily a passive activity. It takes an active commitment, knowing when to take action and when not to. So I would argue that patience is still and always a virtue. Sure. I used to be one of those who often stared at the microwave for the full two minutes it took to heat my food. And in the end, the food tasted bad. If l had had the patience to heat the food properly in the oven, I would have enjoyed a delicious meal.Actually the benefits of patience go beyond just heating up our food. Patience is an exercise in self-control which shows that we can handle life problems when things get tough, and that we can exercise good judgment. Lack of patience can cause us to make wrong decisions that negatively affect our health and happiness, waste our time, put us under a lot of stress and affect our relationships in a very negative way. Everything in life happens for a reason. Sometimes we face an obstacle (障碍) because we need to grow in ways we didnt realize. Its not always obvious when that was happening, but with patience we will soon see clearly why it happened; and what we were meant to learn from it. Taking time to think about our actions and being patient are a small price to pay when we determine the best possible solution to any problems.8The author uses the example of reheating food to show that .Apeople have no time to enjoy the mealBhigh technology brings more benefitsCmore people lack patience nowDthe fast-paced life makes people stressed9What could be inferred from Paragraph 4?APeople under stress tend to get angry.BPatient people are more likely to make better decisions.CPeople with self-control are easier to succeed.DPatient people are unlikely to make mistakes.10What does the author intend to tell us in Paragraph 5?AA wise man learns from experience.BA brave man is not afraid of challenges.CA man should find out reasons for what happened.DA man should be patient to deal with difficulties.11What can be a suitable title for the text?AThe causes of impatience.BWays to exercise patience.CIs patience really a virtue?DWhat does “patience” mean?D(说明文)For most of us, walking is something we do automatically. It doesnt require much effort, so many of us fail to remember the benefits of walking for health.Physical activity doesnt need to be hard. Whether youre regularly active or not, even a quick ten-minute daily walk can deliver a host of health benefits. But what happens if we stop walking ahead and start challenging our brains and bodies by walking backwards? Not only does this change of direction demand more of our attention, but it may also bring additional health benefits. One of the most well-studied benefits of walking backwards is improving stability and balance. Walking backwards can improve how a person walks and balance for healthy adults and those with knee problems. Walking backwards causes us to take shorter, more frequent steps, leading to improve the muscles of the lower legs. But the benefits of changing direction arent just thatan interest in backwards movement has led researchers to discover various other benefits. While normal walking can help us maintain a healthy weight, walking backwards may be even more effective. Energy expenditure when walking backwards is almost 40 percent higher than walking at the same speed forwards, with one study showing reductions in body fat for women who completed a six-week backwards walk.Walking backwards is simple, but that doesnt mean its easy. So, how can you add walking backwards into your exercise plan? When walking backwards, were more likely to crash into something or fall over, so in the interest of safety, its best to start indoors where you wont crash into someone or outside in a flat, open area. Look over your shoulder. Keep your head and chest upright while reaching back with your big toe for each step, rolling through the foot from toe to heel. Once you become more confident walking backwards, you can begin to speed things up.;12Why does the author mention “the benefits of walking” in the beginning ?ATo introduce the benefits of walking.BTo show peoples lack of exercise.CTo lead us to “walking backwards”.DTo tell us the importance of walking.;13What does the underlined word “expenditure” mean ?AIncrease.BConsumption.CExperiment.DConstruction.;14What does the fourth paragraph talk about?AWhen is safe to walk backwards?BWhy should we walk backwards?CHow can we start walking backwards?DWhats the weakness of walking backwards?;15What is the best title for the passage ?APhysical Activity Is Easy And Simple.BWalking Backwards Is Really Good For You.CWalking Doesnt Require Any Special Equipment.DWalking Ahead Challenges Our Brains and Bodies.参考答案ABC ACAB CBDC CBCB学科网(北京)股份有限公司
