典例1(2020新高考卷II阅读B)The end of the school year was in sight and spirits were high.I was back teaching after an absence of 15 years, dealing with the various kinds of "forbidden fruit" that come out of book bags. Now was the spring of the water pistol (手枪).I decided to think up a method of dealing with forbidden fruit. My imaginary Grandma's Box worked like magic that spring, and later.Sometimes students would ask me to describe all the things I had in it.Then I would try to remember the different possessions I supposedly had taken away-since I seldom actually kept them.Usually the offender would appear at the end of the day, and I would return the belonging.25 . What do the underlined words "the offender” in paragraph 8 refer to?A. The studenfs parent.B The maker of the Grandma's Box.D. FAA allows drones to serve for the army. 从第二段最后一句uOver the course of a decade, wee gone from a complete ban to slow, heavily regulated, and restricted initial testing.n 可以看出,B项正确。2. The underlined phrase "subject to” probably refers to.A. obeyB. controlC. damageD. create答案A 词句猜测题。 A。3. Whafs Paragraph 5 mainly about?A. The companies allowed to use drone deliveries.B Amazon joining in drone deliveries.C. Drone deliveries used in medical service.D Zipline operating in Africa and America. A。4. Whafs the author's attitude toward Amazon's drone deliveries?A. Neutral.B. Negative.C. Favorable.D. 根据最后一段中的“it's great that the government is giving it this new room to maneuver. Too bad it took the feds this long to allow it” 可 以判断,作者支持使用无人机进行物品派送。 6. weigh up to five pounds 1. .the use of unmanned aerial devices.(Para.2) 力. .a futuristic innovation.(Para.6)未来的3. Stores and companies went on doing the hiring; in some areas, it was very hard to get goods delivered(deliver).4. Over the course of a decade, we've gone from a complete ban to slow, heavily(heavy) regulated, and restricted initial testing.5. Too bad it took the Feds this long to allow it, especially as the pandemic made drone deliveries not just a futuristic innovation but something we could have used yesterday.(Para.5)分析本句为主从复合句。句首省略了 It is;something为先行词,被定语从句 we could have used yesterday修饰和限定;其中定语从句的关系代词that在从句 中作宾语,故可以省略。 C. The author's grandchild.D. The owner of the forbidden fruit.【分析】 利用构词法猜测词义。 技法二、利用上下文猜测词义这是最常见的方法,一定要先从画线词语最近的位置找起,要求理解句子的顺序 是:本句的意思一前后句的意思一本段和前后段的意思【典例2(2021新高考卷I阅读C)When the explorers first set foot upon the continent of North America, the skies and lands were alive with an astonishing variety of wildlife.Native Americans had taken care of these precious natural resources wisely.Unfortunately, it took the explorers and the settlers who followed only a few decades to decimate a large part of these resources.Millions of waterfowl (水禽)were killed at the hands of market hunters and a handful of overly ambitious sportsmen.Millions of acres of wetlands were dried to feed and house the ever-increasing populations, greatly reducing waterfowl habitat (栖息地).29. What does the underlined word “decimate" mean in the first paragraph?A. Acquire.B. Export.C. Destroy.D. Unfortunately, it took the explorers and the settlers who followed only a few decades to decimate a large part of these resources.” 首段最后两句 uMillions of waterfowl.greatly reducing waterfowl habitat (栖息地)." 技法三、利用语法关系猜测词义利用下定义:be, mean, refer to, be callcd/namcd, namely, that is, be considered等词语后面的内容是对前面的 注解性说明,相当于对前面的词语下定义5种语法关国利用同位语(从句):同位语(从句)是对其前内容的 解释说明,也可以帮助猜测词义利用定语从句:尤其注意which/who后的非限制性定 语从句)利 用 举例:for example, for instance, such as, like, include, including等后的内容也有助于猜测利用标点符号:注意破折号(一)、冒号(:)、分号(;) 后的内容;注意引号(”")或括号中的内容【典例3】(2021 全国甲卷阅读C)Southbank, at an eastern bend in the Thames, is the center of British skateboarding, where the continuous crashing of skateboards left your head ringing.I loved it.I soon made friends with the local skaters. We spoke our own language. And my favorite : Safe.Safe meant cool.lt meant hello.lt meant don't worry about it.Once, when trying a certain trick on the beam (横杆),I fell onto the stones, damaging a nerve in my hand, and Toby came over, helping me up: Safe, man.Safe.A few minutes later, when I landed the trick, my friends beat their boards loud, shouting :“Safe Safe! Safe! ” And thafs what mattered-landing tricks, being a good skater.29. What do the underlined words "Safe! Safe! Safe! ” probably mean?A. Be careful!B. Well done!C. No way!D. 根据画线词后文的解释说明“And that、what mattered-landing tricks, being a good skater. 技法四、利用逻辑关系猜测词义反义关系: 根据画线同 的反义词猜 测词义同义关系: 根据画线词 的相同或相 近意义的同 语猜测词义因果关系: 根据前后 因果关系 猜测同义表转折:but, however, otherwise, though, even though表对比:unlike, in contrast, while, on the contrary, on the other hand, rather than, instead of表类同:similarly, like, or, namely, in other words, that is to say, just as, and, also, as well as, the same as, as.as.表原因:because, since, because of, due to, thanks to, for, as a result(oO表结果:so, therefore, so that, so/such. that., lead to/result in/contribute to【典例4(2020新高考卷I阅读D)According to a recent study in the Journal of Consumer Research, both the size and consumption habits of our eating companions can influence our food intake. And contrary to existing research that says you should avoid eating with heavier people who order large portions(份),it's the beanpoles with big appetites you really need to avoid.13. What does the underlined word"beanpolesin paragraph 1 refer to?A. Big eaters.B. Overweight personsC. Picky eaters.D. Tall thin persons. And contrary to existing research thatsays you should avoid eating with heavier people who order large portions(份),it's the beanpoles with big appetites you really need to avoid.",研究表明,与现存的研 究发现(应该避免和食量大的胖人一起吃饭)相反,你真正需要避开的是胃口大 的又高又瘦的人。根据“contrary to”可知,画线词与heavier people含义相反。 第一步明确代诃所指代内容的位置第二步替换核实再比较用所找的指代内容替换画线代词,核 实句意是否合理,前后内容是否一致比较所找部分与选项,确定意思最接 近的选项代词永远出现在原词之后,故代词所 指代的内容在这一句的前面一句中, 或者前儿个句中【典例5(2020浙江7月卷阅读B)The traffic signals along Factoria Boulevard in Bellevue, Washington, generally don't flash the same length of green twice in a row, especially at rush hour.At 9: 30 am, the full red/yellow/green signal cycle might be 140 seconds.By 9: 33 am, a burst of additional traffic might push it to 145 seconds.Less traffic at 9: 37 am could push it down to 135.Just like the traffic itself, the timing of the signals changes. That is by design.Bellevue, a fast-growing city just east of Seattle, uses a system that is gaining popularity around the US: intersection(十字路口)signals that can adjust in real time to traffic conditions. These lights, known as adaptive signals, have led to significant declines in both the trouble and cost of travels between work and home.25 . What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 2 refer to?A. Increased length of green lights.B Shortened traffic signal cycle.C. Flexible timing of traffic signals.D. Just like the traffic itself, the timing of the signals changes. I四比对 fl羽总结,仔细比对选项,确定答案【典例6(2019浙江6月卷阅读B)Money with no strings attached.Ifs not something you see every day.But at Union Station in Los Angeles last month, a board went up with dollar bills attached to it with pins and a sign that read, “Give What You Can, Take What You Need."24. What does the expression “money with no strings attached in paragraph 1 mean?A. Money spent without hesitation.B Money not legally made.C. Money offered without conditions.D Money not tied together.【分析】第一步 定位到原句,找出题干关键信息在原文中的位置:money with no strings attached第二步 寻找信息句,找出与该句相关的信息句:“Give What You Can, Take What You Need. 故选Co对点练二即学即练巩固,练透练全练通精做模拟考题(2021 无锡市高三调研)Having met only weeks before, climbers Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay shook hands before hugging each other in a moment that would put their names in history books forever. They were on top of the world-literally.After five hours of continuous climbing the two first climbed to the top of Mount Qomolangma, the highest spot on earth. As the ultimate climbing goal for them both and the dream of most climbers, they had just 15 minutes to absorb the experience of being at 8, 848.86 metres above sea level.Be any longer and they may not have made it back to camp to tell the tale. With this in mind, the pair spent some of their precious minutes searching the area for signs of those who had been before them. The bodies of two previous Qomolangma hopefulsAndrew Irvine and George Mallory of the 1924 attempt-were in the thoughts of Norgay and Hillary. However, they could find no sign of them having reached the top.Qomolangma has been responsible for claiming over 300 lives and endangering many others, as it poses huge and unpredictable challenges, with high altitudes (海拔) putting immense pressure on human biology and with its icy land making each step a risk. When the climbers made it back to camp and the news spread, global admiration and fame poured in.Norgay and Hillary were determined to be the first to conquer the world's highest mountain. They had done it.At the time they believed that the box had been ticked and no one else would put themselves through the danger to repeat their achievement. They couldn't have been more wrong.Today hundreds of people choose to follow in their footsteps every year.In contrast to the total isolation (孤独)felt on the first successful journey, during times of ideal weather conditions, queues form up to the mountain's summit. This creates dangerous pauses (停顿)in the mountain's most deadly zones.Whether you believe these adventurers to be brave, admirable or out of their minds, it is clear that Hillary and Norgay have provided knowledge and inspiration for many to find out how it feels to truly be on top of the world.【语篇解读】本文是记叙文。 1. What did Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay do on the top of the world?A. They measured the height of Mount Qomolangma.B. They celebrated their victory with many climbers.C. They tried to find signs of earlier climbers.D. They shared the experience as long as 15 minutes. 2. What can be inferred about Andrew Irvine and George Mallory from the passage? A. They succeeded in reaching the top of Mount Qomolangma first.B They lost their lives in their attempt to conquer Mount Qomolangma.C. They were good friends of Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.D. They died because they didn't return to their camp in time. 根据第二段中的“The bodies of two previous Qomolangma hopefuls. 3. What does the underlined word “immense“ in Paragraph 3 mean?A. Huge.B. Outside.C. Minimum.D. Limited. 4. What will the present Qomolangma climbers be likely to face compared with Norgay and Hillary?A. More terrible loneliness.B More ideal weather conditions.C. More deadly zones.D. More dangerous stops. 根据第五段中的“This creates dangerous pauses(停顿)in the mountain most deadly zones可知,与埃德蒙希拉里和丹增诺盖相比,现在 的珠穆朗玛峰攀登者面临着更多危险的停滞,故D项正确。 When the world responded to the COVID _19 epidemic with broad lockdown orders, home delivery services lacked the manpower (人力)to keep up with the explosion in demand.Stores and companies went on doing the hiring; in some areas, it was very hard to get goods delivered. You know what might have made things a bit easier? Drones.lt has taken years for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to allow the use of unmanned aerial devices for commercial delivery.Over the course of a decade, we've gone from a complete ban to slow, heavily regulated, and restricted initial testing. At the end of August, 2020, the FAA finally gave Amazon approval for its Prime Air drone delivery fleet.lt did that by classifying Amazon as an "air carrier“ and making it subject to some relatively recent regulations intended to facilitate drone deliveries. The FAA's rules initially required that private drones remain in sight of the operator at all times. That simply won't work for delivery services. So in 2019, the agency introduced a special certification process that would allow approved pilots to operate drones across much longer distances.Amazon will now be able to join Google in drone deliveries. The company revealed that its fleet can carry packages weighing up to five pounds and deliver them within a 15 mile range in less than 30 min.The FAA also recently granted the company Zipline a temporary waiver (豁免)allowing it to deliver medical supplies in N
