Unit 4 Space Exploration子主题3:探讨太空探索的意义Period 3 Reading and Writing一、教学内容分析本课时为子主题3的第三课时。语篇承接前两课时“是否值得耗费时间和金钱探索太空”的话题,进 一步指出人类太空探索的未来发展趋势,即移居火星。通过阅读活动,学生可以了解人类移居火星的可能 性和挑战,进一步丰富对于人类太空探索的认识,同时激发自我探索未知的兴趣。二、语篇分析Whatl本语篇的标题HOMES ON MARS?(在火星上安家?),直接点出了探讨的话题。语篇介绍了人类移 居火星面临的困难以及对移居火星的展望,共分为四段,具体内容如下:第一段提出话题,援引两位科学家Stephan Hawking和Robert Zubrin的观点,阐明人类移居火星是未 来的发展趋势。第二段笔锋一转提出挑战,指出人类要移居火星就要在火星上仿建地球的生存环境,使之 升温从而适合人类居住。第三段进一步指出另一担忧,即人类移居火星后的身心健康问题。最后一段呼应 开头,展望未来,对人类移居火星充满信心。Why作者通过阐述人类移居火星面临的困难和解决办法,向读者展示了人类移居火星的美好前景。通过阅 读文本,学生可以进一步丰富自己对于人类太空探索的认识,了解人类移居火星的可能性和挑战,同时激 发自我探索未知的兴趣。How语篇采用了 “总一分一总”的结构方式,层次清晰;同时,也注重使用话语标记(signpost)加强段 落之间以及句子之间的逻辑性,如:在第二、三段表述人类移居火星遇到的挑战和解决办法时,使用了 however, one of the goals.is., another, one idea. is to. 等。语篇使用了丰富的词汇,如:与探索火星相关的词块包括:move into space to survive, spread out into space, establish ind叩endent colonies, terraform Mars;介绍移居火星的解决办法的词块包括:warm up, produce greenhouse gases, lead to rainfall and the growth of plants, feel bored, keep themselves busy with various activities 等。三、学情分析话题方面:随着人类太空探索的快速发展,学生对人类探索火星的话题比较熟悉,也比较感兴趣。词汇方面:学生对于人类探索火星的活动有所了解,但是对于用英语表述具体的问题和挑战以及解决 办法,还是存在一些困难,需要相关的语言学习和输入。内容方面:通过本单元前期的学习,学生已经对于太空探索话题有了较多的了解,包括:人类太空探 索的历史、航天成就、太空探索的困难、太空探索到底值不值得,对于人类太空探索的未来趋势,学生用 中文尚可交流。四、教学目标通过本课时学习,学生能够:1. 获取梳理人类移居火星的挑战和解决办法;2. 就人类移居火星发表自己的看法。五、教学重难点【重点】获取梳理人类移居火星的挑战和解决办法。【难点】就人类移居火星发表自己的看法。六、教学活动设计环节一:创设情境,导入话题,激活已知。(8mins)教师提问,学生分享自己对火星的了解。之后,教师播放本单元Video Time的部分视频,帮助学生了解 火星的概况。然后,教师介绍文章标题,引导学生预测文章内容。教学活动活动层次效果评价1.
