2022年重庆中考英语第2轮专题复习任务型阅读训练21.     "Thank goodness you have double eyelids (双眼皮). Your parents will save a lot of money." said a family friend when I was five years old.    I never quite understood how having double eyelids saved my parents money until that summer when I came back to Seoul. The moment I arrived in the city, I noticed cosmetic surgery clinics (整容机构) everywhere. South Korea is known to have the highest ratio (比例) of cosmetic surgery to people worldwide. It is very common for girls to get eyelid surgery as a present when they graduate from high school.    What made South Koreans fall so madly in love with cosmetic surgery? The promise of beauty. Women think it's necessary and worthy to have the cosmetic surgery. And this suffering is not for nothing. It is believed that beauty leads to attracting a better-looking partner, which then leads to better-looking children and a better lifestyle. It also plays a big role in the workplace that men are also starting to resort to cosmetic surgery. For example, my 29-year-old brother, who is slim and over six feet tall, gets many more job offers than his best friend, who is shorter and heavier, even though both of them graduated from the same college and had the same GPA and certificates.    In fact, many South Koreans believe that physical beauty equals happiness.(1) Are there cosmetic surgery clinics everywhere in Seoul? (2) What do women think of the cosmetic surgery in South Korea? (3) When do girls usually get eyelid surgery in South Korea? (4) According to the last two paragraphs, list two advantages of cosmetic surgery 2.     Train Your Brain    How powerful are our brains? A Chinese science TV show called Super Brain has the answer. The show is about talented people showing their great brainpower (脑力).    It is true that these people have special talents. But training is also very important. "The brains of competitors are not different from common people. Their successes come from hard work and training, "Wei Kunlin, a psychological professor (心理学教授)at Peking University and one of the judges of the show, said on Weibo.    How to improve our brainpower    Exercise    Studies say that exercise makes some abilities of our brains better, such as planning, organizing and doing different tasks. Exercise also helps put us in a good mood.    Train your memory    The more you try to remember things, the stronger your memory will be. If you train yourself to remember phone numbers and other important numbers, you may see a change.    Doing something new    Trying something new helps make new neural pathways (神经通路)in your brain. This improves your intelligence (智力). You could take a new road to school, try a new snack or even do a new exercise!(1) What's Super Brain about? (2) Do the people who join in the show have special talents? (3) Where can people read Wei Kunlin's commentary (评论)on these competitors? (4) How many suggestions does the article give us on how to improve our brain power? 3.     What do Australian teenagers do in their free time? Many of them like to spend it with their friends. They play together outside or do some shopping.    But a girl named Shanaya White spends her free time in a different way she works hard to cheer up those children with serious illnesses.    Shanaya comes from Queensland. In September 2014, she spent four days in hospital because of an illness. She found it was really hard to stay in hospital. She felt upset when she thought many children had to stay in hospital for weeks and months because of illnesses.    After learning more about childhood illnesses, she decided to help those children.    She made a Facebook Page. On it, she posted stories of other children's fights against illnesses, hoping more people would care about those children. "I name it Happy Little Smiles because I want to bring happiness and smiles to the kids in need," said Shanaya. She also made "Happy Packs" and sent the packs to those children with illnesses. Inside the packs, there were toys, books and a mix of activities.    It was a success and she made many sick children smile.    And thanks to her, more and more people began to care about and help the children.(1) What does Shanaya do in her free time? We were driving in the right lane(车道) when, suddenly, a black car jumped out of a parking lot right in front of us. My taxi driver stopped his car at once. The tire(轮胎) made a very loud noise, and at the very last moment our car stopped just one inch(英寸) from the back of the other car.I was frightened(恐惧). But then I couldnt believe what happened next. The driver of the other car, the man who almost caused a big accident, turned his head and started shouting at us. I couldnt believe it! But my taxi driver just smiled at the man. So I asked, “Why did you just do that? This man almost sent us to hospital.”This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call “The Law of the Rubbish Truck(垃圾车法则)”. He explained that many people are like rubbish trucks. They run around full of rubbish, full of anger(愤怒) and full of bad feelings. As their rubbish gets together, they look for a place to throw it away and sometimes theyll throw it at you. Dont take it personally. Just smile, wish them well, and move on. Dont take their rubbish and spread it to other people at work, at home or on the streets.Successful people never let rubbish trucks change their moods(心情). Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets(后悔), so love those who love you and pray(祈祷) for those who dont.(1) Did the taxi driver stop his car in time? (2) What does “rubbish” in the passage mean ? (3) Why did the man shout at the taxi driver and the writer according to the passage ? (4) Will you let rubbish trucks change your moods in your life? Why or why not? 5. 任务型阅读。 Body image-the way people feel about their looks-is a big problem for many young people today. According to a study, more than half the teenage girls in the USA think they should be on a diet( 节食), and almost one in five teenage boys are worried about their bodies and their weight. It seems that they dont care about their health so much. But what causes the problem? In the study, many blame(责备) the media(媒体). Turn on the TV and youll always see beautiful models, handsome actors and tit sports stars. Open a magazine or a newspaper, look through the Internet, and its usually the same.In the USA, the average(平均) woman is 163 cm tall and weighs 64 kilos, but the average model is 180 cm tall and weighs 53 kilos. Many young people feel pressure to look like these "perfect" people. But for most, this is just not possible so they begin to become less confident. As a result. some stop eating healthily in order to lose weight. Students who lose so much confidence used to take part in classroom activities at school, but they dont, now.Is there a solution to the problem? In 2019, a study In the UK advised that body image lessons should be provided in schools. Others believe its a problem that all of society needs to deal with. As Meaghan Ramsey says, "We need to judge(评判) people by what they do, not what they look like.”(1) Are all teenage boys in the USA worried about their bodies and weight? (2) Whats the cause of the problem? (3) According to the aritle, when some young people become less confident, what will they do? (4) Do you think it is important to look like these “perfect” people? Needless to say, over those years Ive had a chance to look at education reform(改革)from a lot of perspectives(观点). Some of those reforms have been good. Some of them have been not so good. And we know why kids drop out. We know why kids dont learn. Its thought family cant support their children. Some students dont want to learn anything that they arent interested in. Some parents think others bring negative influences to their own children. We know why. But one of the things that we never discuss or we rarely discuss is the value and importance of human connection, relationships.James Comer says that no significant(重要的)learning can occur(发生)without a significant relationship. George Washington Carver says all learning is understanding relationships. Everyone has been affected by a teacher or an adult. We can stand to have more relationships. So teachers become great actors and great actresses, and we come to work when we dont feel like it, and were listening to policy that doesnt make sense, and we teach anyway. Kids dont learn from people they dont like. Some people think that we can either have it in us to build a relationship or we dont. I think Stephen Covey had the right idea. He said we should just throw in a few simple things, like seeking first to understand as opposed (相反的)to being understood, simple things like apologizing(道歉). Have you ever thought that? Tell a kid youre sorry, theyre in shock.(1) Are all the education reforms good enough?_(2) How many reasons that children dont want to go to school or drop out are in the passage? _(3) What should teachers do if they want to build a good relationship with students? _(4) Do you think having a good relationship with your teachers will help you to study well? Why or why not? _7. 阅读下文并回答问题。 We all experience bad moods(情绪) sometimes, for it is impossible to be happy all the time. We may feel sad or even angry when we are in a bad mood. This is normal, but it is important to know how to change our moods. First, we must know our bad feelings before we can do something about them. It is no use trying to ignore them. Instead, we must face them positively.Once we have made up our mind to be happy, it is time to take action. One thing we can do is exercise. Physical activities are exciting and can light our spirits. It is the best therapy(疗法). Another way to improve our moods is to find something fun to do. We can put our heart into something we enjoy, such as movies or a trip to the park, or buy something special. Finally, we can talk with our good friends. A good friend will listen to our complaints, and his words will make us feel better.Bad moods are inevitable(不可避免的). We need to experience them, but that doesnt mean we have to let them continue. We are in control of our thoughts and feelings. If we can use the ways above, we will be able to beat the blues and have a happy mood.(1) Do wealways experience bad moods in our life? _(2) When we are unhappy, what is the best therapy? _(3) How can we make up our mind to become happy? _(4) Do you have “the blues” in your life? Why or why not? _8. 阅读下文并回答问题。 Peter: I love animals very much. My favorite animal is cats because they are very cute. But I have no pets now, because I so busy.Anna: I like animals, too.
