John flew to the U.S. from his hometown of Glasgow, Scotland when he was 19 years old. He headed to California for a semester studying abroad. It was his first time traveling overseas by himself, and he was a little nervous. Luckily, he met a young Irish couple along the way. They were going to Venice Beach, which wasnt far from Johns final destination of Newport Beach. They decided to make the final leg of the journey together. There was just one problem: None of them knew how to get to either city from Los Angeles. “I think we may take three or four, maybe even five different bus journeys, possibly going in different directions each time,” John said. Each time they asked bus drivers for directions, theyd end up more confused. They were getting more and more upset. They hadnt packed much food or water, just not very prepared in every respect. Its not just that they were kind of tired and hungry. There was certainly a level of anxiety growing in their minds as well. Eventually they decided to find a map. They bought one at a gas station and stood outside, trying to make sense of it. “It couldnt be more obvious that we have got lost,” John said, laughing helplessly. For about 15 minutes, the group stood outside examining the map. They were on the verge of giving up when a young woman approached them. She was wearing a T-shirt that said “Need help?” 她穿着一件T恤,上面写着“需要帮助吗?”“Im not a person of faith,” John said to the couple. “But I admit that at present I do have a sense of, well, has this person been sent from heaven?” The young woman just looked at them and said, “Do you guys need any help?” The three tired travelers told her how they had gotten lost on the way to Venice Beach. Pointing to a blue car in which sat a middle-aged woman, the young woman replied,“ Maybe my mum and I can help you.” They expected the young woman could tell them how to get to Venice Beach but instead she offered something even better. The next morning the young woman helped John map out a ride to Newport Beach. One possible version:    They expected the young woman could tell them how to get to Venice Beach but instead she offered something even better. “Why dont you just get in the car? My mother and I will take you,” the young woman replied. Relieved and grateful, John and his new friends got into the womans car. On the journey, the young woman discovered that John was going to travel to Newport Beach. “Well, dont worry, I will help you coordinate your trip to Newport Beach tomorrow,” the young woman suggested. Not only did they drop off the Irish couple in Venice Beach, they also provided accommodations for John.      The next morning the young woman helped John map out a ride to Newport Beach. The young woman had arranged everything for John, which made him really grateful. John was aware that how unusual that level of generosity was, far beyond his expectation. He wanted to pay money for what they had done for him, but was refused. They just told John to pass this kindness on to whoever needed help. John made his way to Newport Beach, feeling warm in his heart and he wouldnt feel nervous because he knew there would always be someone who was willing to give a helping hand. With a warm smile, she offered, “How about I give you a lift and Ill take you half way. ” relieved and grateful, John and the couple expressed thousands of thanks to them. The young woman proved to be more than just helpful. They exchanged  jokes and adventures all the way, making the journey more like an adventure than a trouble. It seemed as if in a blink they arrived at the young womans home. Unexpectedly, they invited them to stay up and had a great time together.      Staring at the detailed map, John was overwhelmed with gratitude. What a kind woman and what an angel. They exchanged contact information with the young woman, promising to meet again in the future. With the specific instruction, John and his companions made it to their destination separately. Not only were they grateful for the safe arrival but also for the unexpected friendship. From then on, when John recalled the unforgettable experience, he couldnt help but feel that sometimes, when you were lost and in need, a helping hand appeared. Angel did exist. 作文范例二     “How about I give you a ride? The bus is hard to take here. ” the young woman beamed, saying in a gentle tone. John couldnt be more grateful and excited. At first, John and the couple were a little shy, but soon they were overwhelmed by the girls jokes and warmth. Nervousness gave way to happiness and they began to think their previous misfortune was a blessing in disguise. When night fell, the girl reached her home and invited them to stay in her house for a night.      Looking at the map with detailed routes and introduction, John was seized with gratitude. “Youre my angel and I couldnt believe what would have happened to us without you. ” The young woman smiled warmly, “there are so many kind people everywhere, Im sure youll get help more or less.” So convenient was the map that at the end of day they succeeded in reaching their destination. All the anxiety and sweet now paid off. They said goodbye and went their separate学科网(北京)股份有限公司
