Unitl 口语课教案Talk About History and Culture一、 Teaching Objective:By the end of the lesson, students will be able to discuss historical events and cultural practices in a clear and organized manner. They will also be able to express their opinions and engage in meaningful conversations about these topics.二、 Teaching Key Points:1. Students will learn how to discuss historical events and cultural practices in English.2. Students will develop their critical thinking and munication skills by analyzing and expressing their opinions on these topics.3. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the world around them through learning about different historical and cultural perspectives.三、 Materials:1. PowerPoint presentation with images and videos related to historical events and cultural practices2. Handouts with discussion questions and prompts3. Whiteboard and markers for notetaking and brainstorming4. Access to online resources for further research and information四、 Teaching Procedures:1. Introduction (5 minutes) Begin the lesson by asking students if they have ever had the chance to travel or learn about different cultures outside of their own. Encourage them to share any experiences they may have had or questions they may have about other cultures. Introduce the topic of the lesson history and culture and explain that today*s lesson will focus on discussing historical events and cultural practices in English.2. Presentation (15 minutes) Use the PowerPoint presentation to introduce students to various historical events and cultural practices from around the world. Display images and videos to help illustrate the points being made. Ask students to take notes on the information presented, focusing on key events, dates, and significant figures. Also, encourage them to ask questions or make connections between the events and their own lives or experiences.3. Discussion (20 minutes) Divide students into small groups of 34 people. Assign each group one of the discussion questions or prompts provided on the handout. Instruct students to work together to e up with answers to their questions or ideas related to the assigned topic. Encourage them to use evidence from thepresentation material to support their arguments. After 10 minutes, have each group share their findings with the class. Allow time for questions and discussion from other students.4. Independent Research (10 minutes) Assign a followup task for students to research a specific historical event or cultural practice that interests them. They should gather information from at least two sources (e.g., books, websites, videos). Instruct students to write a short paragraph (5 sentences) summarizing their research and including any new information they discovered. They should also include a reflection on what they learned from this experience.5. Wrapup (5 minutes) Review the main points of the lesson and emphasize the importance of learning about different cultures and historical events. Encourage students to continue exploring these topics on their own and to share what they learn with others. Assign a homework assignment for students to write a short essay (80100 words) on a historical event or cultural practice that inspires them.
