develop a heavier than air flying machine.Some inventors experimented with gliders(engineless planes).They studied birds wings and discovered that the wings are curved.By building gliders with curved wings instead of flat ones,they could make the vehicles fly hundreds of feet or meters.But long distance flight in a heavier-than-air machine did not become possible until the invention of an engine
