Students will be able to write a clear and effective letter of advice on a given topic.3. Students will be able to use appropriate language and tone in their letters.4. Students will be able to express empathy and understanding towards their friends* problems.5. Students will be able to analyze and evaluate the situation from different perspectives.二、 Teaching Key Points and Difficulties:1. Teaching Key Points: Understanding the purpose and format of a letter of advice. Identifying the problem and expressing empathy. Providing constructive suggestions and solutions. Using appropriate language and tone.2. Teaching Difficulties Points: Encouraging students to think critically and objectively. Encouraging students to use advanced vocabulary and sentence structures. Encouraging students to use rhetorical devices effectively.三、 Student Analysis:The students are at an intermediate level of English proficiency, with varying levels of experience in writing letters of advice. They have some knowledge of common problems that teenagers face, such as addiction to computer games and spending too much time online. However, they may lack the ability to analyze and evaluate situations from different perspectives, and may not always express empathy in their letters.四、 Teaching Process:1. Warm-up (5 minutes)Begin the lesson by asking students about their experiences in giving or receiving advice from friends or family members. This will help them understand the purpose of a letter of advice and prepare them for the task at hand.2. Presentation (10 minutes)Show the students examples of good letters of advice from the textbook, focusing on how they identify the problem, express empathy, provide suggestions, and use appropriate language and tone. Ask the students to analyze these examples and identify the key points that make them effective.3. Practice (20 minutes):Divide the students into small groups and give each group a specific problem (e.g., addiction to computer games) to write a letter of advice for their friend Chen Lei. Encourage them to think critically and objectively about the problem, express empathy towards Chen Lei, and provide constructive suggestions for him to overcome it. After writing, ask each group to share their letters with the class and discuss their strengths and weaknesses as writers.4. Production (15 minutes)Ask each student to write a letter of advice on a different topic (e.g., spending too much time online). Encourage them to use advanced vocabulary, complex sentences, and rhetorical devices to make their letters more engaging and effective. After writing, ask each student to share their letters with the class and discuss their writing skills as writers.5. Conclusion (5 minutes):Review the main points of the lesson and emphasize the importance of writing effective letters of advice. Remind the students that being a good friend means being there for each other, listening to each other's problems, and offering helpful advice when needed.
