His father was put in prison because he could not pay his bills
2、, and two days after his 13th birthday, Dickens started work in a factory, experiencing real poverty. As a young man, he worked for newspapers and as a political journalist, he met all kinds of people. Using all these experiences, Dickens started writing novels in his early thirties and became succe
3、ssful almost immediately. Oliver Twist, his second novel, which was published in 1838, was hugely successful. It told the story of a young orphan alone in the dangerous streets of London. The story ends happily -the young boy discovers who his real parents are and finds a loving home. However, it br
