2、art. The book can bring me into a world that is more than reality while reading it. The extraordinary story makes me ponder a lot and gives me a deep impression that every girl can be a princess. After reading this outstanding book, I was shocked by Sara, a little girl who suffered such unimaginable

3、 pain and tortures, but still had an opposite attitude towards life. What impresses me most is that Sara put on her act of being a princess when she wore thin bottom shoes, wading in the street of London. From my point of view, her spirit of being so strong-minded when she was in hard times is worth

4、 admiring. Every girl can be a princess if she can do all I mentioned, no matter she is rich, beautiful or not. To speak truthfully, I cannot do as well as Sara. However, I will exert myself on being a princess mentally. The story of a little princess reminds me a book I read many years ago, called

5、little women. The story of little women also impressed me and makes me think a lot. Little Women is a coming of age drama tracing the lives of four sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. During the American Civil War, the girls father is away serving as a minister to the troops. The family, headed by thier

6、 beloved Marmee, must struggle to make ends meet, with the help of their kind and wealthy neighbor, Mr. Laurence, and his high spirited grandson Laurie. This book all begins in the dead of winter; The Christmas Season. The coldest one of all, were the war has made fuel for heating very scarce. While

7、 her husband is off at war, Marmee is left alone to raise their four daughters: Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy.One of the prominent themes in Little Women is the coming of age or maturation of the girls. During the course of the novel we see them grow in many ways - physically, intellectually, and especiall

8、y emotionally. One question which readers must ask themselves is whether the views the characters have on the coming of age process are shared by Alcott. If they arent, what are Alcotts views and how do they differ from those of the women in her story?It is interesting to examine the last half of Ch

9、apter 20, Confidential. Jo addresses the maturation issue as she speaks with Marmee of the situation between Meg and Mr. Brooke. The possible love between these two represents one of the very important aspects in coming of age for a teenage girl. Jo treats this natural process as if it were some sor

10、t of disease, however. Jo cannot understand why Meg would want to stop behaving like a sensible creature , and refers to love as such nonsense.After reading this two books, I found that Im really interested in those kind of story, I think Ill read a lot more in my free time. Unfortunately, it comes back to haunt her and she ends up returning to that life and dies painfully and alone, but with the knowledge that she was a noble woman at heart. after reading this book, a sentence always stay in my head, “W

13、omen are like the flowers”. Those pretty women are like those beautiful flowers; their delicate beauty makes people feel they are the miracle of life. However, even the God envies their beauty. It seems that beautiful women always have tragic endings. As we are normal persons, even we can see the hi

14、deousness of humanity that results in their fate of withering, we can at most ask quietly in our hearts: Where have those beautiful flowers gone? Where have they gone?The impression of Gullivers Travels Gullivers Travels recounts the story of Lemuel Gulliver, a practical-minded Englishman trained as

15、 a surgeon who takes to the seas when his business fails. In a deadpan first-person narrative that rarely shows any signs of self-reflection or deep emotional response, Gulliver narrates the adventures that befall him on these travels. One of the most interesting questions about Gullivers Travels is

16、 whether the Houyhnhnms represent an ideal of rationality or whether on the other hand they are the butt of Swifts satire. In other words, in Book IV, is Swift poking fun at the talking horses or does he intend for us to take them seriously as the proper way to act? If we look closely at the way tha

17、t the Houyhnhnms act, we can see that in fact Swift does not take them seriously: he uses them to show the dangers of pride. When bending my eyes downward as much as I could, I perceived a human not six inches high! A final indication that the Houyhnmns are not meant to be taken seriously occurs whe

18、n the leader of the Houynhms visits Lilliput, where he visits the French Royal Society. He goes into a room in which a scientist is trying to turn wine into water (itself a prideful act that refers to the marriage at Gallilee). It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in nee

27、d of a wife”. The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession. People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading th

28、is book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man. Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”

29、, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book p

The story line is simple, the book reads like a biography or a memoir of a summer in Tom Sawyers life. Tom Sawyer seems to be the precursor of and the template for misfit kids such as Dennis the Men

32、ace, Malcolm in the Middle, and Calvin and Hobbs. What makes this story great is that Tom Sawyer represents everything that is great about childhood. The book is filled with Toms adventures playing pirates and war with his friend Joe Harper. Tom has a trusted friend, Huck Finn, who few of the adults

33、 approve of. The book is filled with ideas of how the world works, such as how pirates and robbers work, that are so innocent, they could only come from a child. It is a story filled with action, adventure, ingenious ideas, love, and schoolyard politics. The whole story is seemingly a complication o

34、f what people did or wish they did during their childhood. The book is a little difficult to read at first. Personally, it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. Other than referring to persons of African decent in derogatory terms (which Im sure uses terms even

35、 young children already know), the book would be an enjoyable read for people of all ages. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to feel young again, if just for a few hundred pages.The Impression Of Les MiserableLes Miserable is a world famous novel written by Victor Hugo, the French Roma

36、ntic writer, who though regarded in France as one of that countrys greatest poets, is better known abroad for such novels as Notre-Dame de Paris and Les Miserable. Les Miserable tells a story that Ran Arang had suffered from 19 years dark time in the jail for he stole some bread due to his excessive

37、 starvation. After his release from prison, the Discrimination and Ignoring of other people made he despair. However, miraculously, a kind bishop changed his life by his warm heart. And after that, when Ran Arang full in love with Esmeralda , though this love has been very tough, his life was totall

38、y different.After reading this book, Ive been impressed by Mr. Hugos vivid writing of the tragic fate the poor people has and the cruel exploitation of the capitalism. Whats also impressed me is the hoping of changing this miserable world by fraternity, kindness, kindhearted and forgiveness. Fratern
