As the basis of a transaction，it concerns the rights and obligations of the seller and the buyer. If the goods delivered by the seller are not in line with the agreed name of commodity，the bu

5、yer reserves the right to lodge a claim against the buyer，reject the goods or even cancel the contract. Therefore，the name of commodity should be clearly stipulated in the contract. When giving the name，try to be specific and adopt the widely accepted name agreed by both parties.Name and quality of

It is the foundation for effecting shipment and taki

18、ng delivery of the goods. The basic contents of the quantity clause are the quantity to be delivered and the measuring unit to be used. In order to avoid disputes during the fulfillment of the contract，both parties shall stipulate this clause clearly.BAPacking of commodity2.2.3 3n Packing has become

19、 more and more important in competing for overseas markets. One of its basic purpose is to protect the product. The second purpose of packing is to make the product look appealing to the customers. Other common purposes of packing are to provide information about the product inside，make it easy to c

20、arry the product，and provide convenience in using the product.Packing of commodity2.2.3 32.3.1Kinds of packingn Commodities can be classified into bulk commodity，nude packed commodity and packed commodity. Bulk commodities and nude packed commodities have little or no form of packing. Nude packed co

21、mmodities such as steel，rubber and automobiles are shipped without packages or in simple bundles. Bulk commodities such as coal，grain and ore are shipped by means of transport with special purposed shipping equipment. But most of commodities in international trade are packed commodities and need cer

22、tain degree of packing during the shipping，storing，and sales process. Packing can be classified into transport packing（outer packing）and sales packing（inner packing）.Packing of commodity2.2.3 32.3.1Kinds of packing Transport packing is mainly to keep the goods safe and sound during the transportatio

23、n. It must be solid enough to prevent the packed goods from any damages，pilferage and be easy enough to store and convenient to load and unload. The commonly used transport packing includes bag，sack，case，carton，box，crate，drum，bale，container，bundle，and so on.Packing of commodity2.2.3 32.3.1Kinds of p

24、acking Sales packing is not only adopted as a form of protection to reduce the risk of goods being damaged in transit and prevent pilferage，but mainly with the purpose of promoting sales. It can help to improve the image of commodities and enable the consumers to easily identify，select，carry and use

25、 the commodities，so sales packing has become an important factor directly affecting the sales volume and price.Packing of commodity2.2.3 32.3.1Kinds of packing Neutral packing is a special type of packing without the name and address of the manufacturer，the country of origin，the trade mark and brand

26、. Chinese export products are usually marked “Made in China”. But sometimes at the request of the buyer，the seller would accept neutral packing. Neutral packing is divided into two types：neutral packing with designated brand and neutral packing without designated brand. Neutral packing with designat

27、ed brand means that the brand and/or trade mark designated by the buyer are marked on the product and/or packages，but no country of origin is indicated. Neutral packing without designated brand means neither brand and/or trade mark nor the country of origin is marked on the product and/or packages.P

28、acking of commodity2.2.3 32.3.2Packing markn In order to facilitate loading and unloading，transporting，identifying the goods，the outer packing must be clearly marked with the identifying symbols and numbers in accordance with the instruction of the customer. These symbols and numbers are called pack

29、ing mark. There are five types of packing mark：shipping mark，additional mark，indicative mark，warning mark and origin mark.Packing of commodity2.2.3 32.3.2Packing mark It is usually made up of simple design，some letters，numbers and simple words，and mainly contains：Packing of commodity2.2.3 32.3.2Pack

Some countries require the country of origin，weight and dimensions to be marked on every package. An example o

31、f additional mark is shown below（see Figure 2-2）：Packing of commodity2.2.3 32.3.2Packing mark This kind of mark is used to reminder the relative workers of the items for attention when they load，unload，carry and store the goods. They are usually marked with pictures and languages（see Figure 2-3），for

32、 example，“Handle with Care”，“Keep Dry”，“This Side Up”，“Do not Crush”and“Fragile”.Packing of commodity2.2.3 32.3.2Packing mark It is also called dangerous mark（see Figure 2-4），which is brushed clearly and definitely on the shipping packing of the inflammable，explosive，poisonous，corrosive goods，so as

33、to give warnings to the workers，for example，“Explosives”，“Poison”and“Radioactive Material”.Packing of commodity2.2.3 32.3.2Packing mark The origin of the goods is the basis of customs statistics and duties and is indicated in the certificate of origin. But we generally mark the origin on both the in

34、ner packing and the outer packing.Packing of commodity2.2.3 32.3.3Packing clause in the contractn The packing clause mainly includes packing manner and packing material，packing expenses to be borne and shipping marks.Packing manner and packing material should be clearly stipulated in the contract. A

35、mbiguous terms like“seaworthy packing”or “customary packing”are not applicable. On the other hand，the packing manner and packing material should be appropriate for the commodity and meet the requirements of different means of transportation. For instance，cement requires waterproof package，and packag

36、es for glassware should be shockproof；while seaworthy package should be strong and protective against squeezing and bumping，packages for air transportation should be light and compact.Packing of commodity2.2.3 32.3.3Packing clause in the contract Packing expenses are usually included in the price，an

37、d shall be borne by the seller. If the buyer has special requirements for packing，the packing expenses shall be borne by the buyer. There is no need to stipulate the shipping marks in the contract，as they are usually decided by the seller.
