6、areer that lasted 60 years! Mr Tang, first, could you tell us a bit about Hs early life?T: Well, H actually had quite a tough start in life as he was born into a very poor family. When he was 11 years old, he started learning Beijing Opera. Every day he went to the Temple of Heaven to practise singi

7、ng and the other elements of Beijing Opera. P: I see. Now do you mind explaining why H is known as the founder of XS? Wasnt XS already a form of entertainment before H came along?T: Youre right. XS was already a form of entertainment but it played a very minor role. After several years of her work,

8、Hs XS came incredibly popular and broke this tradition. Thanks to Hs brilliant performances, XS gained a great reputation and much glory, so this is why he is known as the founder of XS. P: Thank you for clearing that up. Can you tell us a little more about Hs career?T: Certainly! There is actually

9、so much to tell. H devoted his life to XS and to bringing laughter and happiness to audiences all over China. Besides composing and performing hundreds of well-known XS dialogues, he also made a huge effort to train the younger generation. P: Isnt it true that many famous comedians on stage today we

10、re his students?T: Thats correct, and he was also the Art Director of China Broadcasting Art Group and a part-time professor of Beijing University. P: Wow, he certainly led a busy life.T: Yes, he did. But the always made time for other people. He really loved his audience and he expressed his gratit

11、ude to them for their support many times before the died in 1993. P: Well, his audience certainly loved him too, and Hs achievements in the field of XS will never be forgotten. 1. The first night, the younger brother persuades

14、the older one to go out in their dads car. Well, they meet some friends and go out to a club. When they get back home its about five in the morning. And thenB: Then what?G: When they get up, they go to the garage, and guess what. B: What?G: They see this enormous scratch on the back of the car. They

15、 panic. They know their dads going to go mad, so they decide to try and get it repaired. B: Yeah?G: Luckily, one of their friends works in a garage, but hes busy. They promise him all kinds of things if hell repair the car for them that afternoon. He eventually comes and does the car, just before th

16、eir parents come back home. The car looks great again. B: Mmm. G: When their dad sees his car, he cant believe his eyes. The two brothers ask him what the matter is. “Well”, he says, “the day before we went away, another car just ran straight into me. And there was a terrible scratch, but now ins gone. I just cant believe it!”B: Oh, thats awful! Everyone prepares a story or a joke. Share it in a group first. Then invite some students to tell their stories or jokes to the whole class.Story time
