It is a Greek myth.Pygmalion was a very gifted artist(sculpter),who doesnt like women.However , he spent a long time creating a perfect stone statue of a beautiful woman. It was so beautiful that he couldnt help loving it and wanted it to be his wife

2、.But it was only a stone. How could he make his dream become true? He thought and thought and at last he asked the Greek Goddess to help him to bring it to life.The Greek Goddess agreed to help and make his dream come true by turning the stone statue into a real woman. The two are married and live h

3、appily together.The Greek myth was a popular subject for Victorian era English playwrights.Based on the classical myth, Bernard Shaw wrote a famous play Pygmalion.My Fair Lady is a musical based upon George Bernard Shaws Pygmalion.The musicals 1956 Broadway production was a smash hit, setting a new

4、record for the longest run of any major musical theatre production in history. It has been called “the perfect musical”.
