When it grew dark, she turned a suitcase into a bed and put the children inside it, covering them with all the clothes she could find. During the night, it got terribl

3、y cold. The woman kept as near as she could to the children and even tried to get into the case herself, but it was too small. Early next morning, she heard planes passing overhead and wondered how she could send a signal. Then she had an idea. She stamped out the letters 'SOS' in the snow.

4、Fortunately, a pilot saw the signal and sent a message by radio to the nearest town. 11、法上有时有差别。（1）grow表示（逐渐）变得，比get要正式些：He has grown fat.他长胖了。He has grown to like studying mathematics.他渐渐喜欢学数学了。It was growing hot.天渐渐热了起来。（2）turn表示把（状态、性质）改变（成）……或使变颜色等：Leaves will turn yellow in autumn.秋天时树叶将会变黄。Jasper hopes the stone Medusa will turn cars and their owners to stone.贾斯珀希望这
