Often, many drivers would just honk (按喇叭) once or twice, wait a short minute, then drive away.But unless a real

2、danger, I always went to the door to find the passenger. It might be someone who needed my assistance. She kept thanking me for my kindness. “Its nothing,” I told her. “I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated.”“Oh, youre

5、 such a good boy,” she said. When we got in the taxi, she gave me an address. Then she asked, “Could you drive through the downtown?”“Its not the shortest way,” I answered. “I dont mind,” she said, “Im in no hurry. Im on my way to the nursing home.” I saw her eyes shining with tears. “I dont have an

6、y family left,” she continued. “The doctor says I am too old to live alone.”I quietly turned off the meter (计程器). “What road do you want me to take?” I asked. “First, take me to Sunrise Street. I believe I have never done anything more important in my life. We usually think that our lives

12、are defined by great moments. But I now realize that great moments catch us by surprise, because they often seem quite small. For hours, we drove through the city. She showed me her primary school and shared with me some funny stories of her school days and friends. Then she asked me to pull up near

13、 a peaceful square, where, as she told me in a gentle voice, she first met her husband. She sat on the back seat still, gazing at the square through a mist of tears for a moment, and then signaled me to move on.老人动作All the way, I just listened attentively as if I was a loyal audience to my mother wh
