First, Id like to talk about material:1. status and function This topic is the first perio
2、d of unit 4 in Book 6 PEP. The teaching activities are according to this topic which is one of the most important parts in pupils daily communication. Its not only close to the pupils life, but also full of interests. So the students can accept and master it easily. This topic takes the verbs and ve
3、rb phrases which students have learned before as the point of contact to present the -ing form of verbs. And it provides topic and scene for the next two units. Its the base of learning English well.In according to the new curriculum standard and the importance of understanding how to use the presen
4、t continuous tense, I set up the following objectives.2. objectives Knowledge and Skill aims a. To enable the Ss to understand and speak: “What are you doing? I am cooking dinner.” Make sure that Ss can use these sentences in real situations. b. To consolidate the words and sentences in Lets learn b
5、y singing Lets Chant.Ability aims a. To develop Ss abilities of listening and speaking. b. To train the Ss ability of working in groups. c. To foster Ss abilities of communication and their innovation. Emotion aims a. Cultivate students emotion of loving life. b. Develop students imaginations.3. Dif
6、ficulties and Main Points Main Points : a. Master the four-skilled phrases and their -ing Form. b. To enable the Ss to understand and speak: “What are you doing? I am cooking dinner.” Difficulties :a. The pronunciation and writing of the -ing form of verb phrases. b. To guide Ss perceive and underst
7、and the expression of present continuous tense. Next, I want to talk about Students. Students in Grade 5 have some skills in English and their abstractive thinking is forming. They are eager to learn, they are eager to show. Whats more, they have learned some verb phrases,e.g water the flowers, swee
8、p the floor, do the dishes, which provide a good base for this period. Teaching methods As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate pupils basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson I
9、ll mainly use “Task-based” teaching method. That is to say, I will let the Ss learn in real situations, finish a task by making a call to help the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue. I will arrange five kinds of activities: singing, Jigsaw puzzle game, matching gam
10、e, finishing a paper and having a competition. And in this lesson cards, pictures, CAI, and a printed paper will be needed.Teaching Procedures Ill finish this lesson in six steps.Step 1. Warm-up and Lead in1. Show a video to students and ask them to guess what I can do to review “What can you do?” a
11、nd “I can.”2. Do some TPR, for example: I can sing, la, la, la. 3. Introduce some new friends to students to lead in new phrases.Purpose: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss by doing some total physical response and at the same time it provides situations to revi
12、ew learned knowledge for the next step.Step 2. Presentation1. Introduce Bolooloos friends to students. 2. With the help of the CAI to present the video. Set a situation to help Ss understand: “what are you doing?” and “Im reading a book.”3. After learning each word play a small game to practice read
13、ing. (who does well in the game will get something as reward.) Purpose: CAI can provide a real situation for the Ss to understand the dialogue and the relationships between people better. To present the key structures one by one is much easier for the Ss to learn and grasp the meanings. Proper compe
14、tition can arouse the Ss interest in English learning.Step3: Practice1. Play games: Jigsaw Puzzle, Matching Game. 2. Lets Chant3. Role playPurpose: Students can enjoy the pleasure of success by doing these interesting game. The games can foster students reaction and reading ability of these new phra

Step6: Homework Please give your friend a call in English and talk about what you are doing at home.Purpose: Revision is so important that Ss should speak English as much as they can in class or after class.
