2、ds in Activity 1 to complete the definitions in Activity 2.After that,give the students a quiz about the Yangtze River,the Three Gorges,which is the main topic in this module.That is the warming up.Vocabulary and ReadingBefore the students read the passage,let the students imagine ifthey are going o
3、n a trip through the Three Gorges,which of the following topics will they talk about,the boat,the food,life along the river,the scenery,the weather.While reading this passage,pay attention to the writer s travel route and underline the new words and the details.Afterfirst reading,finishquestions in
4、Activity1 and words study in Activities4 and 5.Then read the passage again,complete the statements about the writer s journey in Activity3 and a form withsome key words.Iftime permits,ask the students to retell the text in class;if not,leave it as homework.GrammarGrammar in this module is the revisi
5、on of modal verbs.This part can be led in by doing some exercisesofmodalverbs.Inthispart,we llrevisetheusageofmodalverbs,suchas can,could,must,have to,should,etc.Modal verbs are important and difficult English grammar points and it is rather confusing.Ask the students to paymuch attention to them.In
6、 this part,well deal with four activities.First,dosome true or false questions in Activity2 to know how much thestudents knowabout modal verbs.Inactivity1,the teacher ask the students to complete the sentences from the passage and then answer the five questions given.After that,in Activity 3,askthe
7、students choose the correct answers.Seven sentences are designed.Then,do a further practice based on Activity 3.ListeningThis is a short listening.Thelisteningmaterialis not long and onlytwoactivitiesare designed.Before listening,the teacher can divide the students into groups of six.Let each of the
8、m describe one picturewithone or twosentences and guess where the speakers are.Bydoing this,teach the students how to predict the content of listening.In Activity 1,listen to the tape and check where the speakers are.In Activity 2,six pictures are given.After listening,tick the things you can do on
9、a classic Three Gorges Cruise.It aims to train the studentsabilityof grasp detailed information.FunctionThe function in this module is talking about obligation,permission and prohibition.First,the teacher may ask the students to speak out the way used to express obligation,permissionand prohibition.
