I was organising my words in my head when the girl next to me gave me a nudge.我正在脑海里组织语言时,我旁边的女孩用胳膊肘轻轻退了我一下。when做并列连词when用作并列连词时,意思相当于and then,and just then或
2、and at that time,这时when连接的后一个分句常含有“出乎意料”之意,谓语动词也往往时短暂性动词。when可与suddenly连用以加强语气。常用句型:I was thinking about the matter when I heard my name called. 我正想着这件事,这时(突然)有人叫我的名字。We were about to start when it began to rain. 我们刚要出发就开始下雨了。非谓语动词什么是非谓语?在英语句子中,动词有两类。一类是谓语动词。另一类是非谓语动词。例如:“I work.”一句中,work作谓语动词,如果把句子
3、改成“I want to work.”句中的谓语动词则变成了want,而to work就是非谓语动词。非谓语动词有三种形式:动词不定式(to do),动名词(doing),分词(现在分词doing和过去分词done)。不定式做后置定语3. I woke up early and rushed out of the door in my eagerness to get to know my new school. 我早早醒来,带着想了解新学校的急切心情冲出了家门。不定式作定语,修饰名词或代词,不定式和它所修饰的名词之间有逻辑上的主谓关系、动状关系、同位关系或动宾关系。不定式通常要放在这些被修饰
4、的词后,即“后置定语”。 不定式做目的状语4. What could I say to make a good first impression?我应该说什么才能留下良好的第一印象呢?不定式(短语)所表示的动作是谓语动词所表示的动作的目的。不定式做目的状语时可以位于句首或句尾。为表示强调,可在不定式前加上in order或so as。但是so as to不能位于句首。You dont have to run fast or for long to see the benefit. 你不必跑得很快,也不必花很长时间才能看到好处。He travels around the world to gat
5、her information about the disease. 他走遍世界以收集有关这种病的资料。现在分词做伴随状语5. Turning around,I saw a white-haired man.转过身,我看到了一位白发苍苍的老人。现在分词(短语)做伴随状语,是对谓语动词所表示的动作或状态的补充说明。现在分词(短语)表示主动,所表示的动作和谓语所表示的动作是同时或者几乎同时发生的。现在分词(短语)做伴随状语的具体用法如下:Seeing this, I smiled. 看到这一切,我笑了。She stood at the window, watching the sunset. 她站
6、在窗边看日落。She came into the room, carrying a lot of books. = She came inro the room, and carried a lot of books. 她拿着许多书走进了房间。with复合结构6. With butterflies in my stomach, I breathed deeply.我感到极度紧张,做了一个深呼吸。with复合结构在句中既可作状语,表示伴随、方式、条件、原因等,也可做定语,其常见形式如下:With the children at school, we cant take a vacation wh
7、en we want to. 由于孩子们在上学,所以我们想去度假时却不能去。He left the office with the windows open. 他离开办公室时没关窗。The little girl felt very safe with her mother standing behind her. 妈妈站在她身后,小女孩感到很安全。With so many books to read, I have no time to chat with you. 有这么多的书要读,我没时间跟你闲聊。“tooto”结构7. I had been too nervous to pay att
8、ention when he introduced himself.我太紧张了,都没注意听老师做自我介绍。too为副词,修饰形容词说其他副词。to为不定式符号,其后接动词原形。He walks too slowly to get there on time. 他走得太慢,不能按时到那儿。不定式做结果状语,常用主动形式,其逻辑主语有时是句子的主语,有时不是;若不是,不定式的逻辑主语通常由for引出。The book is too difficult for us to read. 这本书太难了,我们读不了。(不定式的逻辑主语时us)并不是所有的“tooto”结构都表示否定意义,在下列情况下,“t
9、ooto”结构可以表示肯定意义。“tooto”结构中含有not,never等否定词时;You are never too old to learn. 活到老,学到老。You cant be too careful to do your homework. 你做家庭作业时越细心越好。 too后跟的是anxious,eager,ready等表示主动的态度、情感的形容词时。He was too anxious to do this job. 他非常想做这份工作。I am too eager to travel around the world. 我非常想环球旅行。课堂练习:单句语法填空1.
