Theres an extra desk over there.Text 7W: Peter, youre learning to drive, arent you? Do you go to the AA Driving School?M: Actually its called the ABC Driving School.W: Is i

6、t expensive? M: Ive had ten lessons already and each one is fourteen pounds.W: I see. And is the teachers car new?M: Yes, and its not a big car so parking is easy.W: When are you going to take your driving test?M: I failed it last week.W: Did you hit something or M: The traffic lights were red but I

7、 didnt see them and I couldnt brake in time.W: Never mind. You can take the test again. Tell me about your teacher. Is he friendly?M: Hes OK. Hes quite young and interesting to talk to, but my father will give me my next lessons. Hes cheaper.Text 8W: Chris, remember at 11:00 this morning you have to

8、 call your grandparents. And at 12:00, can you take Fiona to the swimming pool in my car? Shes meeting a friend there.M: OK. I wanted to watch some TV but it can wait.W: Can you get some stamps too? The post office closes at 1:00, but youll be there at 12:30 if you go straight from the pool.M: OK. A

9、nything else?W: There are some library books to return, but Ill do that on Monday. Can you wash the car? If you do that at the garage at 1:00, youll be back here at lunchtime.M: All right. So Ill see you at 1:30 and well eat then. At 2:00 theres a football match its a really important game. After th

10、at, can I use the car to visit some friends?W: Yes, OK.Text 9M: So how were your schooldays when you were a child, Joan?W: Well, from seven to twelve I went to a school in Belgium.M: In Belgium? How come?W: It was my fathers idea. One of his friends was sending his daughter, and my father wanted to

11、impress his friend so he decided to send me, too. M: Just to impress a friend? Its hard to believe. So what was it like?W: We had to get up early and go to church before class. And at mealtimes we just had to sit silently with our hands folded in our laps. And I wasnt allowed to speak English at all

12、. I had to learn French but nobody taught me. I just had to sit in the lessons and try to understand.M: Its awful for a child of seven!W: And they were terribly strict about manners! I suppose that was one good thing. I had the most beautiful manners when I left.Text 10W:Hello, everyone. Welcome to

13、Language International. Could you please turn to page five? Now, you see that lessons begin here every weekday at 9:00 a.m. The first class every Monday is grammar practice, followed by a visit to the language laboratory. After a break you have a double lesson of speaking skills. Tuesday morning beg

14、ins with a reading skills lesson and after the break, vocabulary development. In the afternoon youll go to the library, where you can read, watch a video or practise grammar. On Wednesday morning you have listening skills, and then what we call current affairs. Youll listen to the news on the radio

15、and discuss whats going on. After the break its another double lesson of speaking skills. Thursday morning begins with pronunciation, then a special “Life in Britain class. After the break is grammar practice once again. Finally on Friday morning in the first lesson you will practise writing skills, followed by a lesson in the computer room. After the break is the weekly review period, where your teacher will help with any problems you may have. Oh, and dont forget you can study on your own in the library every weekday from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. as well, if you wish! Thank you.
