18、ers(carter,1997:295-296).in the traditional teacher-centered teaching,the focus has been on inputs,the credentials of faculty,the topics to be presented,the sequencing of presentations,and so forth .there is a gap about the use language in real life and the textbooks.2.2 presenting three features of
19、 teacher-centred teaching Generally speaking ,the teacher-centered has three features.Firstly ,this kind of teaching targets on rather than functions.middle school English teachers belives that teaching is supplying students with knowledge as much as possible and teaching is from memory to examinati
20、on .although students learn the given context and finish the cognition assignment ,they do not know their functions .thus they are unable to use them appropriately in real social situations.just like some Chinese students ,they do well in examinations.what they have learned from the textbook or teac
21、hers are always considered to be quite right ,but they have learned know how to use them appropriately.students are most passive in the progress of mechanical actions,and they become the victims of the traditional education without knowing how to express their in real situation.Secondly, classes are
22、 managed in the given form the standard of evaluation is whether the teachers have fin ished the lesson the plan ideally.language is always used in a certion context .students act as audience ,cooperating with the teacher to do the dialogue .the students follow the teachers,the teachers follow the t
23、eaching materials and they all follow the direction of the examinations.that way restriction and the ability of creation .the relationship between the teachers and the students may be a symmetrical one ,such as that of conductor to orchestre memetrical ,coach to players. Current methodology has soug
24、ht more symmetrical kinds of the relationships between students and teachers such as friend with friend,colleague with colleague.Thirdly ,for various reasons,traditional English teaching tends to targets on two language skills while ignoring the others .sometimes ,the teaching has become programmed
