But here, I want to discuss four static principles which are required to follow through the whole teaching and learning process with all my readers. They are teaching English in English, Thinking English in Eng
3、lish,Using Chinese properly in English teaching and Rciting followed by other practices.Teaching English in EnglishEnglish teaching is a key part of the middle school education. In an English class, teaching in English is a matter of course. Teaching in English not only includes teaching the lesson
4、in English, but also includes an English teaching form. Nowadays, a common weak point of our English teaching is the separation of the lessons content and the teaching form. Teachers are not trying to teach in English but in Chinese. There are many reasons. As we all know,language is used for commun
5、ication. The Communicated English means that teachers instruct the students and explain questions basically in English, and the students are also required to use English in class. Contemporarily, however, the students in the middle school cant speak very well,neither can they understand why they sho
6、uld use different tones in different time or situation; their vocabulary and expressive ability are limited too. These limitations made it difficult to realize teaching in English in the classes. This produces a vicious circle. It affects the learning interest and the sense of the language of the st
7、udents. At the same time, its not good for a teacher to improve his own ability. But how to change it? It focuses on the practical use of English teaching methods.1. Try to use the words that the students have learned before;2. Combine learning with review;3. Renew the words we are using to follow t
8、he teaching steps;4. Make special plans for English teaching.Teaching in English is a developing process from simplicity to complication, for example, when you want the students to be quiet, at first, you can say: Be quiet. After learning of the word“stop, you can say: Stop talking. As the students
9、known the word“enough, it can be changed into“ Thats enough talking now.Using English to teach English should be held on to the last. There is one more point,we put emphasis on the importance of teaching in English, this does not mean that we can not use Chinese at all. We can use a little Chinese t
10、o confirm we can be understood by the students. Thinking English in EnglishIt means when you are speaking in English, you think about something in English not in your native language. But this is not easy for a beginner. At first, you need a transfer of the two languages in your mind. This does harm
11、 to your English learning. We are from different countries, we have different ideas, customs and behaviour etc. As a middle school student, we know more about Chinese but little about English. You want to learn English better, want to think in English, first, you have to know the differences between
12、 the two kinds of countries,especially the differences of culture. To know another culture is a rather difficult job. To think or behave appropriately in another culture is a more demanding task. It is even claimed that a satisfactory fulfilment of this task will take about 20 years of time. Keeping
13、 this in mind and also realizing the importance, we will be given three objectives for us to follow:1. To get the students familiar with cultural differences;2. To help the students transcend their own culture and see things as the members of the target culture will;3. To emphasis the inseparability
14、 of understanding language and understanding culture through various classroom practices.To know the differences between the two different culture is the key point of using English to think, meanwhile, pay attention to your mother tongue.In a word, language expresses cultural reality. Using Chinese
15、properly in English teachingEnglish is different from Chinese, when we teach it, we should try to help the students to form a new language using habit. But ,as languages of human beings, they have the same part when you are learning or using them. From the above, it can be inferred that the Chinese
16、language plays an inseparable role in English learning and teaching, people cant afford to imagine it. Hence ,the role of Chinese in teachers English teaching is worth careful examination.1. Think over the characteristics between Chinese and English when doing preparation work for teaching. The teac
17、her should see the difference first, then he can give a contrastive teaching.2. About the learning methods, students used to using their first language to formulate second language learning hypothesis. This causes a lot of learning and teaching problems to happen. We shoud try to get rid of such hab
18、it, and put emphasis on handling the contrast between the two languages. Let it become a second nature.3. When using the mother tongue, you should combine accuracy with appropriateness.4.
