In para11elism, coordinate ideas are arranged in words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs to emphasize and point out relations. In Text A, for example,

7、 the president uses many sentences of parallel structure. This makes his speech powerful, persuasive, and thought-provoking. It can even produce humorous effect as in the example: “You may have cried tears of joy to be fina1ly finished with high school, and your parents may have cried tears of joy to be finally finished with doing your laundry!”II.
