1、How to Arouse Interest in English Learning 怎样提高英语学习兴趣I. Introduction As a kind of culture different from the native, English should have a potential to attract pupils. However, when it comes to English learning, majority of them showed no much interest, which is described as an engine during cogniti

Facing the fact of lack of interest in English learning among pupils, in the following content I will come up with the topic on how to arouse the interest in English learning, herein the reasons for lack of interest, in order to help students develop interest and make learning in a joyful mood.I
3、I. Survey on the interest in English learningA survey, taken by a teacher in Beijing in 2009 among secondary school students, aimed knowing about the students interest in English. The result shows that English is considered as the less popular course, only 23% of students thinking it enjoyable, comp
4、ared with other courses. Another research named what course do you interest in among 1376 primary pupils in Beijing, to find the most popular course, was taken by a education organization. The result is the same as the above; English accounting for 40% still is thought of as the most difficult to ma
5、ster.III. Analysis on the lack of interest in English learningIn surveys, students said the reasons why they were not interested in English.8% of them thought the course itself was boring, whats, their teachers taught it badly, accounting for 21%, and about 16% believed the problem was they did not
6、have a gift for the course. Also, the remaining held that their disgusted teachers made it impossible to favor the course for them.From the above-mentioned, we could see that teachers take an important responsibility in the development of interest in English learning. The words from the mouths of te
7、achers can be different. A teacher of a secondary vocational school took a study among his students, the results of which are that 88% of them thought why they learn English is that they have to take exam, 93% believe they did have no potential and no confidence in learning English well. Besides, he
8、 came up with an idea that the students can be divided into five categories: inertion, lazy, self-contempt, revolt, self-centered, which is depended on their psychological show.And he found that these students are not different from the students in mental quality, who are good at learning English. 9、he essential reason for their failure in English is that they are not willing and do not want to learn. Of course, we should not ignore the elements, such as bad class, family and social atmospheres, which lead to psychological barrier in learning English. However, teachers as instructors in cogniti
10、on should shoulder the role in guiding students to overcome the barrier. Their attention should not only be paid on the class content but also be focused on students psychological situation. They should do their efforts to pull the weak out of psychological pool, by which really help them gain inter
11、est in learning English.IV. Development of students interest4.1. Motivation of students desire of learning English For beginners, English is less attractive because their learning content is only limited in textbooks, they have no much chance to involve English culture, custom, and the people behavi
12、or manners, except piles of exercises which focus on grammar and vocabulary. They become more and more irritated instead of curious. In order to motivate students passion, teachers should offer more information about English culture, at the same time, give some challenging tasks to fulfill on the co
13、ndition that the mission of course is finished by doing this the unchangeable class-andexercise teaching mode can be more interesting and attractive.(Wu, 2009; 1)4.2. Giving enough chance for students to show their potential In the class, even though students are not willing, teachers should encoura
14、ge students to show themselves, and give advice properly or a word of praise. In fact, students usually have a kind of psychological desire of being paid attention, only because of fear of making mistakes they keep silent. Through this way, they feel being paid attention and are eager to make some p
15、rogress, finally they will find that unconsciously fear have been swept away. Furthermore, they will gradually develop confidence in English learning. (Wu, 2009; 2) 4.3. Creation of a harmonious learning atmosphereIn a relaxing environment, students can keep free in psychology. In some degree though
16、t out of restriction can give full play. What more, students will keep in an exciting state when the psychology atmosphere is positive, harmonious and enjoyable. In the context, the train of thought is open, thought is nimble and deeply. In the class they will present active imagination, good memory
17、, highly energy so that it is easier to analyze, sum up, theorize and do creative learning. Importantly, English as a tool of communication, its teaching should proceed in a communicative and relaxing mood instead of listening-and-exercises. (M&D)4.4. Enough attention to be paid to the problems of s
18、tudents When having problems, students usually ask their teachers or classmates for help. However, some students would rather put them aside than seek help. As a teacher, he or she should pay enough attention to the problems of students in and after class, and give timely guidance. Whats more, stude
19、nts should be encouraged to put forward questions. It is a way that can shorten or remove the distance between students and teachers, also, can strengthen the learning ability and create an active learning atmosphere. By doing like this, students can enjoy the happiness of acquisition; really take p
20、art in learning activities.V. ConclusionApart from the above-mentioned points, of course, there are more aspects that can be done to develop interest in English learning. Of course, not only should teachers make their efforts to develop the quality but also students themselves and families. However,
21、 teachers play a special role in the process of cognition, as guiders, who are required more in both teaching technique and communication skills they should take care of students not only in courses but also in daily life. In order to make students learn in an enjoyable environment, teachers should
22、do as well as they can. In a harmonious atmosphere designed by teachers students can absorb knowledge more easily. Then naturally students will gradually develop their confidence and interest in English learning without strain in the process of participation and enjoying the happiness of harvest and
