The first section is a science lesson conducted by a presenter and a professor, focusing on the basic information of the brain while the second section is a student phone- in pr

3、ogramme about revising for exams. Looking back at the pervious listening lessons in Unit 19 and Unit 20, we can know that this lesson is an on- going practice aimed at the same listening strategies: completing notes, which is a vital skill in the English Listening and Speaking Test in Guangdong Coll

4、ege Entrance Exam. 3重点难点1. To help students consolidate the vocabulary, lexical chunks.2. To help students practice the listening skills, including writing notes.3. To help students correctly use nonfinite verbs in making sentences.4教学过程4.1第一学时4.1.1教学活动活动1【讲授】听与写训练Part 1: PreparationTask1: Pre- Clas

5、s task Before the class, students are given the Guidance Case of this lesson and required to finish the assigned task, which mainly focuses on the vocabulary and key expressions.Task 2: Peer- feedbackIn class, students are given 5 minutes to discuss their Guidance Case and check answers in their gro

6、ups. They may ask me or students in other groups questions.Objective: To get the students familiar with the words and expressions which might be the obstacles while listening.Part 2: Strategies preparationI will list some useful strategies students are going to use in the following listening task an

7、d give them some examples of taking notes in the listening material.Objective: To make students have a direct-viewing understanding of the listening strategies.Part 3: ListeningTask 1: Listen to Exercise 2 on Page 36 and finish the exercises.Students are asked to listen to a science lesson. In the f

8、irst listening, students should get a general idea of the listening material and they are able to finish task 1 in the guidance case. In the second listening, students are asked to listen for specific information in order to complete the text. After the listening, students are given time to write ou

9、t the abbreviations in full, and then they will discuss their answers with the group members. Selected group may appoint one individual to present the results of their discussion.Objective: This listening material introduces the functions and operation of a brain. In the gaps-filling exercise, stude

10、nts are required to practice note-taking while being led to learn the lexical chunks, such as “consist of” ”control sights, hearing and emotion” and “be responsible for”, which are useful and essential for the following writing task.Task 2: Listen to Exercise 4 on Page 36 and complete the table.Stud

11、ents will be given 3 minutes to discuss in groups about their own advice that they have found helpful for revising for exams. Then they are asked to listen to the phone- in programme and complete the table. After the listening, students are given time to discuss their answers with the group members.

12、 Selected group may appoint one individual to present the results of their discussion.Objective: This listening material introduces some tips on how to revise for exams by relaxing our brains. Students are required to take down specific information concerning the topic, which is useful and essential for the following writing task.Part 4: WritingStudents are asked to finish the Basic Writing referring to the topic of “Brain Power”.Objective: To consolidate the lexical chunks and the nonfinite verbs learnt during the listening activities and allow students to apply them into practice.5_
