Although it illustrates a moral ideal of mankind, many people who hold opposing views think that the welfare of fellow citizens is the priority. International aid has its weaknesses but its importance should not be denied. The main reason why in

3、ternational donation agencies should view international aid from a global perspective is that their funds can help the citizens of those recipient countries to combat poverty, disease and inequality. We should first recognize that citizens of developing countries are in desperate need of aid, becaus

4、e they are susceptible to natural or man-made disasters such as wars. In those war-torn or poverty-stricken countries, where resources are scanty, there is a high demand for food, medicine tents and shelters. In addition, humanitarian action can restore some of their basic rights, such as the right

5、to receive education. This is also consistent with the universal principle of supporting vulnerable populations. Those who cannot provide financial support can work as international volunteers and deliver services, such as training and medical service, to those needy people. Despite the heightened i

6、mportance of international aid, people have discovered that it is not likely to ensure the impartial and equitable distribution of the aid. Local authorities or not-for-profit organizations can be compassionate and altruistic but they may also use resources to satisfy their personal interests. Since

7、 it is difficult for donors to investigate whether their funds are mishandled, they are willing to choose beneficiaries locally. They are willing to witness how their donation improves beneficiaries living standards. In view of this fact, humanitarian agencies and charity organizations should take s

8、teps to increase transparency so as to convince donors that beneficiaries can receive donations in due course. To summarize, we should realize the implications of international aid to those who are affected by disasters, poverty and misfortunes. Provided that resources are used appropriately, humani

9、tarian aid can fulfill its mission.In some countries, it is possible for people to buy products made in other countries. To what extent do the benefits of this development outweigh the problems?As the world is increasingly globalized, the exchange of commodities across the border is proceeding at an

10、 astounding rate. It has sparked controversy over whether the increase in imports has adverse impacts. From my point of view, this practices advantages outweigh its disadvantages.Importing goods can yield a number of benefits. The first benefit is that despite the high cost of transportation, import

11、s are competitively priced.The main reason is that the countries that export these goods normally have technology and professional knowledge to ensure the goods quality and affordability. For example, China specializes in the production of textile products so China-made textile products are cheaper

12、than local counterparts in many parts of the world. Besides, imported goods have challenged domestic manufactures dominance and intensified competition, thereby lowering product prices. It is beneficial to domestic customers, because the cost of living will decline. It is worth noting that food prod

13、ucts imported from overseas can alleviate the food shortage caused by abnormal weather. This advantage is more pronounced in cold regions than intemperate regions.On the other hand, the downside of importing goods is that the excessive reliance on imports is likely to lead to the underdevelopment of

14、 some domestic industries. For instance, many countries import computers, resulting in domestic manufactures bankruptcy. This is detrimental to the development of a self-contained economy. In addition, transportation may create considerable pollution, especially when it involves air freight.It is th

15、erefore reasonable to think that the advantages of importing commodities should be accepted with caution. Although customers are able to acquire commodities at lower cost, countries also need to pay attention to the development of their respective industries.Some people think cheap air travel brings

16、 us benefits while others believe that non-essential flights should be cut in order to reduce environmental problems caused by cheap air travel. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.Air travel has fundamentally changed / transformed / altered our means of transport, allowing us to travel acr

17、oss boundaries. However, considering a number of problems caused by air travel, some people suggest that we reduce non-essential trips, including those to foreign destinations. We can refute this view by spelling out/outlining some benefits of air travel.It is undeniable that air travel offers a con

18、venient means of travelling, by which we can travel to different places in the world for business trips, sightseeing and visiting friends. The fast development of the airline industry has laid a solid foundation for globalization, especially the international cooperation between multinational enterp

19、rises. It should be acknowledged that businesspeople are able to investigate different countries business environment so they can bring products, services and job opportunities to these countries. Another advantage is that people can travel to different countries by air, increase cultural experience

20、s and broaden their horizons, thereby observing life from different perspectives. If they travel at home, they may be exposed to similar cultures and lifestyles in different regions, despite the differences in landscape. The consequence is that it is difficult for them to communicate with people fro

21、m different cultural backgrounds and accept these peoples ideas and traditions.Considering these benefits, we should seek to address the concerns about air travel, instead of restricting it. Peoples reliance on air travel has prompted airline companies to operate new routes, thereby generating enorm

22、ous idle capacity. The government may require airline companies to raise airfares, so travellers are discouraged from taking non-essential trips. There is no denying that air travel generates air pollution, which is to some extent responsible for global climate changes. Other problems associated wit

23、h air travel include noise pollution as well as the environmental destruction arising from the construction of airports and relevant facilities. It is therefore important to adopt some technical solutions, including the design of fuel-efficient planes. To summarize, my view is that it makes no sense to restrict air travel, in view of its contribution to economic development and cultural exchange.
