The young man went out, the small boy obediently sat down in the barbers chair,and the barber began to cut his hair.As he had said, he soon finished, and t
4、hen the boy sat down and waited. At the end of half an hour, when the young man had still not come back, the barber said to the boy,“It is a pity that your daddys taking such a long time. Where is he likely to be now?”“I cant guess,”answered the small boy.“And that man wasnt my daddy. Ive never seen
5、 him before in my life. I was playing in the street this morning, and he came up to me and asked me whether Id like to have my hair cut without having to pay anything. I said I would, because my hair was rather long, so he brought me here.”2.A young man and an old man were waiting for a bus at a sta

They sat next to each other.“Whats that in your bag?”asked the young man, pointing to a big bag beside the old man.“Gold, nothing but gold,”answered the old man.The young man could hardly believe his own ears,“What?”he said to himself in surprise.“So much gold? My God! How I wish to be able to
7、 get so much gold!”Then he began to think about how to get the gold.The old man looked tired and sleepy and it seemed that he could hardly keep his eyes open.“Are you sleepy, sir?”asked the young man.“Then youd better lie down on the chair and have a good rest. Dont worry about the bus. Ill wake you
8、 up in time.”“All right. Its very kind of you, young man.”The old man lay down and before long he fell asleep.The young man took the big bag gently. But when he was about to run away, he found a corner of his fur coat was under the old mans body. Several times he tried to pull it out, but he couldnt
9、. At last he took off his coat and went away with the bag.The young man ran out of the station as quickly as his legs could carry him. When he reached a place where he thought the old man couldnt find him, he stopped and quickly opened the bag.To his surprise, there was nothing but a lot of small st

11、g his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchenand returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking,some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.When all the students had a cup of coffee in
12、 hand, the professor said: If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up,leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the
13、coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups. And then you began eyeing each others cups. Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and positio
14、n in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define,nor change the quality of Life we live.Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us.God brews the coffee, not the cups. Enjoy your coff
15、ee!The happiest people dont have the best of everything. 16、一杯咖啡,老师说话了:你们注意到吗:所有好看昂贵的杯子都被用了,剩下那些朴素便宜的杯子。你们都只想要最好的,这很正常,这恰恰是你们的问题和压力所在。杯子不会让咖啡的质量变得更好,很多时候,只是让它变得更贵一些,甚至,有时候,让人忽略了到底我们在喝什么。你们真正想要的其实是咖啡,不是杯子,但你们有意识地去拿那些最好的杯子,随后开始打量其他人手上的杯子。想想吧:生活好比咖啡,工作、金钱和社会地位都只是杯子,只是生活的容器,而我们拥有的杯子既无法定义、也无法改变我们生活的质量。有时,由于我们只关心杯子,我们甚至不能够好好品尝上帝赐予我们的咖啡。上帝冲泡了咖啡,不是杯子。享受你们的咖啡吧。最快乐的人们

20、th 1ove!” “Lets take our daughters advice,” said the father and mother. So the woman went out and asked, “Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest.” Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other two also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Suc
21、cess, “I only invited Love. Why are you corning along?” The two old men answered, “If you had invited Wealth or Success, two of us would have stayed out, but since you have invited Love, wherever he goes, we go with him.
