Write the other sentences under the original sentence on the board.Then ask students to talk about the differences among the different sentences.Ask the students to point out the least polite sentence(Clean your room .) and the most polite one ( W

Write the first one in the Grammar Focus box on the board and ask students to suggest others that mean almost the same thing.Discuss the differences among the responses. Step Pronunciation Note The way you say th

18、e words when making a request or apologizing makes a big difference.If you say,Would you mind not sitting there ?(saying the word mind very loudly) the request does not sound polite.It sounds angry.In the same way,if you say,I m sorry.I ll do it right away(saying the word sorry very loudly),the apol
