24、迹是否清晰时，常在打字机上打出下列的句子：The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.（那只敏捷的棕色狐狸纵身跃过那条懒狗。）为什么他要打出这样的句子？那是因为这个短短的句子包括从a到z的全部26个英文字母。半个世纪以来，打字机行一直沿用这个句子作为检查打字机字迹是否清晰的方法。据说，多年来曾有不少人费尽脑汁想编写出也含有a到z却比它更短的句子，但始终没有成功。3.英语中很多表达法与颜色有关，但不能望文生义。（1）黑色不黑。black sheep（败类）；black dog（沮丧）;black tea（红茶）；black coffee（未加糖或奶的浓咖啡）。（2）白色不白。 white nights（不眠之夜）;white room（无菌室）;white lie（没有恶意的谎言）;white elephant（无用之物）。（3）黄色不黄。yellow dog（懦夫）；yellow boy指“金币”而不是“黄色小孩子”。yellow book指法国等政府或议会发表的报告书，并非是“黄色书刊”。（4）蓝色不蓝。blue moon（千载难逢之机）；blue blood指的是“贵族血统”。（5）绿色不绿。green hand指的是“新手”。
