3、thin the first month.But taking GCSE dance was the best decision I ever made.Dance gives me something to pour my head and heart into.It gives me a feeling of belonging,creativity,security and freedom.The education secretary Nicky Morgan has put emphasis on science,technology,engineering and maths (S
4、TEM),saying that students who focus on the arts risk their careers.Stopping young people from expressing themselves at such a young age is not doing them any favours.Perhaps Nicky Morgan has forgotten to open the door of having a drive to study that subject day in,day out.It shouldnt matter what tha
5、t subject is.I dont doubt the influence that STEM subjects can have on the people that love them.But to force children into one field is cruel.As much as I try,Im not good at and dont love physics,biology or maths.I dont want a career in these areas.There has been a decrease in the number of state s
6、chools offering arts subjects taught by specialist teachers.I cant even imagine how it feels to be told that you dont teach a “real subject” by an 8-year-old boy.To the teachers,the parents,the government I say:Let children make their own decisions.Let them live in the present.Let them have a real,u

10、he loss;she went to live with her grandparents in Nova Scotia,Canada when she was five.Eventually Bishop attended Vassar College,where she began to write poetry.At Vassar she discovered Marianne Moores poetry and met “Ms.Moore” and began their life-long friendship.She later met poet Robert Lowell.Sh
11、e wrote tons and tons of letters to both of them,which is good for us because we would otherwise know very little of her personal life.Bishops poetry is sometimes considered objective and cold because it shows almost nothing about the poet or her life.Bishop published her first book of poetry in 194
12、6 and wrote until her death in 1979.She would spend years working on a single poem.Her poems are not the result of hasty scribbling (匆忙乱写) on paper while eating breakfast.Over a lifetime of writing,she only published about 275 pages of poetry,and about 40 of those are translations.She would look thr
