3、the island is one of the most important places on the planet.That is the message of Cuba!,an exhibit that opened in November at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH),in New York City.“The biodiversity (生物多样性) of Cuba is part of Cuban identity,” Ana Luz Porzecanski says.She is the director of
4、 the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation at AMNH and one of the two curators (a person in charge of a museum exhibit) of the exhibit.Detailed recreations of four habitats transport typical parts of Cubas landscapes and seascapes to New York.They include ancient caves and a network of reefs.One
5、area features live anole lizards,a Cuban tree frog,and a Cuban boa.Cuba boasts more than 6,500 species of plants,161 kinds of reptiles,65 types of amphibians,42 species of mammals,and 367 bird species.One of those is the bee hummingbird.Weighing far less than an ounce (about 28 grams),it is the smal
6、lest bird on Earth.Much of the wildlife found in Cuba exists only there.That gives scientists a unique opportunity to study how plants and animals develop and survive.“Cuba is a very exciting place for us to look at all these different processes,” says Christopher Raxworthy.He is in charge of one de
7、partment of the museum and a cocurator of the exhibit.“But that also creates great challenges for conservation.”Climate change is threatening Cubas wildlife.Some species may even disappear.The country is taking steps to protect its plants and animals.But AMNH hopes Cuba! will show how important the

12、 that you can safely ignore them and continue doing your thing.But that is easier said than done because we all like to be validated.Some people like it more than others,but everyone wants to be respected and appreciated to some degree.I certainly do.I know that whenever I choose to take a risk and
13、share my work with the world,I wonder about how the people around me will see me because of that choice.Will this help my fame? Will this hurt my fame? Should I even be worrying about my fame? Finally,I decided that it was more important to contribute something to the world than it was to protect my
14、self from criticism.The truth about criticism is that its almost always in your head.It is natural for most people to hold onto negative criticism.According to a research paper titled “Bad Is Stronger Than Good” by Roy Baumeister and researchers at Florida State University,we are more likely to reme
15、mber negative criticism than praise.Baumeister found that even happy people are more likely to remember more negative events than positive ones.In fact,Baumeister and his team say that when it comes to your brain,it takes about five positive events to make up for one negative one.5.What prevented th
