I wish I could just give them a little bit of hope and make them believe that they can have dreams,” says Obada Kassoumah, who is a Syrian student in Tokyo now. He has become a translator of Japan

Thats something should make these kids see.”“For Syrian kids it is very important to be able to escape from reality for a while. And these books can also give them some hope for their own future,” explains Prof. Masanori Naito, w

One of the places where Captain Tsubasa now provides a small escape from reality is a refugee(难民) home where copies were handed out to around 60 refugees. “What the kids usually get are of course clothes and food, and

He presented his research here at the finals of the Broadcom MASTERS science competition. He first became awa

28、re of large-scale water leaks while traveling through a poor area in India. There, he recalls seeing just “one community pipe and it was leaking water everywhere.” When he returned home, Sanjay did some work and learned that U. S. water-delivery equipment was deteriorating, too, which included about

29、 240,000 breaks each year in water mains. This means a huge waste of money and clean water.This made Sanjay start to explore how he might look for damage in buried water pipes. Inspired by a clarinet(黑管), he attached a tiny but powerful speaker to the outside of a plastic pipe. Next he put one small

30、 microphone near the speaker and another much farther away. Then, he used a computer program to send electrical signals to the speaker. Those signals caused the speaker to shake at particular frequencies. The results showed the pipe transmitted(传输) some frequencies better than others.After measuring
