1、A Research on the Changes of English Pre-service Teachers Ideas Based on My Own InternshipChapter1 Introduction1.1Research Background With the deepening of the reform and opening up, as well as the effect of globalization, English is playing a more and more important role in our daily life. Although
2、 we cant say its popular in China, we can still say it has integrated into many aspects of our life. So the education of English is very urgent, and also, we have made great progress in English teaching. But in another hand, we still have to think whether the English ability of students is balanced,
3、 and whether we are leading a proper and effective way in teaching English. In the 80s in last century, with the opening policy, English had become one of the most popular majors, which means the education of English had stepped to the right track. In 90s, The High School English Teaching Outline ha
4、d been publish by the ministry of education, the book was divided into two parts, basic stage and senior stage. In the late 90s, with the development of economy, the labor market tend to be upscale. So the original outline was no longer adapted to the new situation any more. Therefore, in 2000, the
5、minister issued a new outline. The description for the target and standard of who majors in English in this outline is, with a solid basic skills, broad knowledge, certain relative professional knowledge, strong ability and high quality. In the 17-year times, there had been great changes in internat
6、ional and domestic situation, we need to do further adjustment and optimization in the standard of cultivating talents.In this kind of circumstance, there is an increasing application of English teacher, there are more and more undergraduate students who are assigned to various stages of schools to
7、spend their internship. And whats more, rounds of new curriculum reform had put forward higher requirements to teachers. As a pre-service teacher, a research on the changes of English pre-service teachers ideas is necessary.1.2 Purpose and Significance of the StudyTeachers teaching ideas are an impo
8、rtant concept in getting to know teachers inside world and the process of their thought. In English teaching, teachers are definitely a significant part. So pre- service teachers ideas about language and language teaching will influence a lot. Not only will their ideas influence the way they teach i
9、n the future, but also will influence the efficiency of students, or even influence the final learning results of the whole class.While studies on ideas of teachers are meaningful for Chinas present education environment, the researches about ideas of pre-service teachers are definitely more signifi
10、cant. This thesis is exactly a research that focuses on the changes of ideas of pre-service teachers from various aspects. So understanding the ideas changes can provide information for English educators, and help pre-service teachers have a better development in the coming teaching career.1.3 Resea
11、rch QuestionsOn the basis of my own internship and some previous studies, this thesis tries to explore the ideas that pre-service teachers hold before and after internship. And this thesis is guided by the following questions:1. What changes will happen before and after internship.2. What factors co
12、ntribute to the changes of pre-service teachers ideas.3. What kind of development will happen after the internship.These three questions will influence each other and affect together. The first question is mainly about the changes, and the second focuses on factors that causing changes, while the th
13、ird is the future development.Chapter2 Literature Review2.1Researches About Ideas Generally speaking, the idea we are talking about is a kind of comprehensive knowledge toward things which is formed in the practice of life.it is also a systematic collection of subjective and objective understanding.
14、 Consciousness was formed by ideas and impression, it is a object of consciousness, ideology, and intellect. According to Cihai(1989), idea refers to the image or the image of the generalization of objective things in human mind. Idea belongs to spiritual aspect and contrast with material things. In
15、 Chinese Encyclopedia of Philosophy, idea is also contrast to material, and it is to know and reflect external reality in consciousness, or create an object form in consciousness. In Platos philosophy, it is an eternal existence, it is a perfect sample or model of perceptual things. Idea was form in
16、 three stages. The first stage is peoples perception of events. In perception, people will have detailed understanding of external things and objective world, and have a image and knowledge toward them. The second stage is the formation of conception based on perception. After some certain practice,
17、 people have understanding and awareness of general material object, which had become the objective existence in their subjective mind. The third stage is people transform the world by conception and governing their behavior. All in all, ideas are not only a kind of conscious or reflection of object
18、ive reality, but also a way to explain and transform external things. Because philosophies are only trying to explain the world by different ways, but the matter is to change the world. So idea should be a king of consciousness that people use to understand external world. This kind of consciousness
19、 can be constantly revised and understood in the process of practice, which is a way to transform objective things. 2.2Researches About English Teachers Teaching IdeaCompared to general teachers teaching idea, researches about discipline teachers teaching idea are less. In modern researches of Engli
20、sh teaching, the researches that directly explore teachers teaching idea is not very enough, and of course there are no standard theoretical system. In the background of new curriculum reform, there are more and more teachers and scholars who pay much attention to matters like English curriculum and
21、 specific teaching in class, instead, the concerns about factors that affect the teaching ideas are decreasing. Although the number of researches about English teachers teaching ideas is not much, we can still see that the teaching ideas of English teachers have changed a lot according to traditiona
22、l ideas in the background of new curriculum reform. In traditional teachers teaching idea, the main ideas of teachers is to pass the exam and convey knowledge, but now the ideas have changed a lot. A foreign language educator, Wu Yian(2005) had once divided teaching idea dimension into students, tea
23、chers, language, and teachers attitude toward students and language. But according to current research, we cannot specify whether the teaching idea of teachers had completely transformed or not, or even the certain connection between teaching behavior. So as for teaching idea research, we need to fi
24、nd its internal mechanism, influencing factors, characteristics to proceed a more detailed research, in order to improve the teachers professional development more effectively.Chapter3 Three Research Methodologies3.1 ObjectivesThe study is mainly aimed at tracking English pre-service teachers teachi
